cosign w/ peter one dart manley

dre is dope as long as hes got a ghost and puff can rip a track with a good writer too - just look at him beastin the 1st verse on benjamins

harry s tfuman (and what), Friday, 20 February 2009 19:06 (seventeen years ago)

"Which rapper kicks a ghostwritten verse best" is probably a decent talking point as well.

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious xkcd comics), Friday, 20 February 2009 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

I vote Puff Daddy for just all-around douchiness. Plus, his raps were just never any good. At least Dre can point to The Chronic as an example of kickass production with fairly solid raps and plenty of talented guests to keep him in the straight and narrow. Plus, Puffy couldn't even keep his mouth shut when Biggie was alive. The weird edgewise murmuring in the background all over Ready To Die is the only thing marring that record.

Plus, I need to stop saying "plus".

deej da 5'9 (deej), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 01:38 (seventeen years ago)

and I think the point is that all four of the choices were stars for rappin', not just producin'.

O Supermanchiros (blueski), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 01:21 (seventeen years ago)

I kind of respect diddy for managing to mess up the career of pretty much everyone ever signed to bad boy besides himself

Is Dre really "sample-happy"?

Tuomas, Wednesday, 25 February 2009 09:34 (seventeen years ago)

Most of his stuff was original or replayed, but some of his largest hits are made from huge loops: Express Yourself from Watts 103rd, My Name Is from Labi Siffre, Next Episode from Axelrod.

Bernard's Butter (sic), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 10:59 (seventeen years ago)

dre used blatantly obvious loops? yeah he used big chunks but it wasnt stuff that everyone in the entire world knew like wyclef and puffy or kanye.
