This movie came out the year I was born and remains one of my all time faves. It was also the 1st album I ever owned.

Virtually impossible to narrow it down to one. So far it's between:

"All Summer Long"
"Ya Ya"
"I Only Have Eyes for You"
"Since I Don't Have You"

"I Only Have Eyes for You" narrowing out "Ya Ya" for me.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 21 February 2009 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

Ya Ya
Love Potion #9
All Summer long
Green Onions

if its the last song i'd hear: All summer long
lonely island tune: green onions
if its the next song: love potion

could have been easier if you had included Sleepwalk by Santo&Jonny

hmm

meisenfek, Sunday, 22 February 2009 00:02 (seventeen years ago)

I've always love how subtly trippy "I Only Have Eyes for You" is.

bitches and eggs (The Reverend), Sunday, 22 February 2009 00:06 (seventeen years ago)

also not included Gee by the Crows (which was in the film but not on the album),

but yeah, Sleepwalk pwns all, ever

xp

Killer soundtrack. Haven't seen the movie in a long time, how does it stand up?

My ears were drawn to "Maybe Baby" but could have been "Come Go With Me," "Green Onions," "Runaway" or a number of others.

that's not my post, Sunday, 22 February 2009 01:05 (seventeen years ago)

"Runaway" was the best song ever before The Beatles, so it cannot possibly be anything else.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 22 February 2009 01:34 (seventeen years ago)

(Although, there is one post-Beatles song here that is great too of course. Nothing wrong about "All Summer Long")

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 22 February 2009 01:36 (seventeen years ago)

Well, there's at least two votes for Del.

I thought we'd already done this, but maybe it wasn't a poll.

Someone is more goth than someone else (Bimble), Sunday, 22 February 2009 02:28 (seventeen years ago)

Flamingos.. best song from the 50's that wasn't by Hank Williams.

billstevejim, Sunday, 22 February 2009 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

I used to listen to this here and there as a kid, but never really fell in love with it...probably because too many of the tracks were familiar and well-worn, the Chuck Berry for example. Of the ones I only really knew FROM this soundtrack, it's easily "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight," with "Peppermint Twist" coming in second.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 22 February 2009 03:58 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe Baby

kornrulez6969, Sunday, 22 February 2009 04:17 (seventeen years ago)

flamingos

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 22 February 2009 21:31 (seventeen years ago)

Great poll. (It's the kind I wish Rickey/Timi Yuro were around for; he'd love it.) "I Only Have Eyes for You" with "Runaway" a close-ish second.

Matos W.K., Sunday, 22 February 2009 21:46 (seventeen years ago)

I'd be disappointed if "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets gets 0 votes

what gut? (PappaWheelie V), Sunday, 22 February 2009 21:51 (seventeen years ago)

"Book of Love" over "Runaway" and "Chantilly Lace".

Euler, Sunday, 22 February 2009 21:52 (seventeen years ago)

I've got to say "Runaway," though there's not really a song on here that I wouldn't mind hearing right now.

Yeah, we might have to have a rumble over this.

All Night Party Of Goth (Bimble), Sunday, 22 February 2009 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

Still, we know Runaway will win. Didn't that win last time?

All Night Party Of Goth (Bimble), Sunday, 22 February 2009 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

So many good ones in here. Love Potion #9 for me, I'd rather hear the coasters version of the song tho.

Moka, Sunday, 22 February 2009 23:28 (seventeen years ago)

Another "Runaway" vote here; second place maybe "Almost Grown," but tons of competition, obviously. This is one of the greatest albums ever made.

xhuxk, Monday, 23 February 2009 03:10 (seventeen years ago)

I was laid off last week, so I'm feeling "Get A Job" right now. Otherwise it'd likely be Goodnight Sweetheart or Maybe Baby.

dad a, Monday, 23 February 2009 04:19 (seventeen years ago)

I've still got my autographed-by-the-Wolfman-himself copy - one of my first 15-20 albums, owned since I was eight. (Technically my parents' copy that I appropriated 'cause I had the better stereo system in my room and they never played music anyways.)

Just for pappawheelie, I'll vote for Bill Haley (tho "Eyes For You" is probably my favourite)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 06:39 (seventeen years ago)

Great poll.

"Green Onions," because it's pretty much my favorite song.

kenan, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 06:41 (seventeen years ago)

If this thread's a success, I'll take it upon myself to start a companion poll dedicated to the Wolfman intros

Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 06:44 (seventeen years ago)

a poll for the soundtrack for the sequel movie would be good, because for a while, it was the best place to hear 96 Tears.

drunk dudes NOTM (james k polk), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 07:12 (seventeen years ago)

A poll for "96 Tears" would lack suspense, though.

kenan, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 07:22 (seventeen years ago)

drunk dudes NOTM (james k polk), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 07:38 (seventeen years ago)

It's close between "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" and "Runaway". Third place is "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes". I'm even tempted to vote for "Teen Angel" because it's so awesomely WTF.
