Lots of praying with no breakfast! (HI DERE), Monday, 23 February 2009 21:34 (seventeen years ago)

Not only the best song on this album, but "Too Young to Fall in Love" is the best song of their career.

yes

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ft Phil Collins (jim), Monday, 23 February 2009 21:46 (seventeen years ago)

Not only the best song on this album, but "Too Young to Fall in Love" is the best song of their career.

This is true.

TYTFIL is great, and probably a better song than Shout At The Devil, but the very beginning of the latter makes my spine tingle. The chords, the high hat...you know something's coming, and it's angry.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 23 February 2009 22:20 (seventeen years ago)

i have shameless and unironic love for this record. voted for the title track, but to be honest, i included "in the beginning" as an intro in that vote.

vaginary & western (jjjusten), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:22 (seventeen years ago)

I always wondered why they were shouting at the devil. Were they angry with him? If the Crue can make Satan their bitch, I don't think we have much to worry about the evils of Hell.

2 ears + 1 ❤ (Pillbox), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:22 (seventeen years ago)

i think i go with the "functionally illiterate" theory on that one

vaginary & western (jjjusten), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:24 (seventeen years ago)

I thought "In the Beginning" was pretty creepy when I was 13.

I still play this album to this day.

A. Begrand, Monday, 23 February 2009 22:25 (seventeen years ago)

Not only the best song on this album, but "Too Young to Fall in Love" is the best song of their career.

King Boiled Potato (Noodle Vague), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:26 (seventeen years ago)

for the career best song i think i lean toward "Live Wire".

vaginary & western (jjjusten), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

I'm gonna skew later and go "Wild Side." Ferocious drumming by Tommy.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 23 February 2009 22:28 (seventeen years ago)

looking up wikipedia crap on motley crue led to this brilliant example of what happens when information is left edit free: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merry-Go-Round_(song)

For Your Consideration:

Eazy, Monday, 23 February 2009 22:31 (seventeen years ago)

lotta great shit on this record, but TYFL takes it. and jjj OTM re: live wire

welcome little swetty (contenderizer), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:33 (seventeen years ago)

Vince Neil has the weirdest enunciation of any lead singer I've ever heard. My old circa-1983 tape of Shout at the Devil had no lyrics, and throughout that decade I had no idea what the dude was carrying on about.

A. Begrand, Monday, 23 February 2009 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

Wow - I'm reading 'The Dirt' for the first time now (plowed through 350 pages yesterday - it's a page turner), so this Poll is timely, as of course I'm playin' what 'rekkids I have by them today. This one got the most plays and OTM on TYTFIL - it is such a fun song.

BlackIronPrison, Monday, 23 February 2009 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

Too Young to Fall in Love has about the best 80s metal video this side of Rock You Like a Hurricane.

You have Nikki Sixx fighting freaking ninjas!!! The only thing is missing is the flying pentagrams off of the kick drums.

earlnash, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 02:06 (seventeen years ago)

Look's That Kill's video is definitely in the post-apocalyptic band in a cage with a bunch of women in rags video, which Rock You Like A Hurricane is the zenith.

Props to the flying pentagrams, that is such a classy touch.

earlnash, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 02:10 (seventeen years ago)

Too Young to Fall in Love has about the best 80s metal video this side of Rock You Like a Hurricane.

And there's a young Michelle Yeoh in the video, too.

A. Begrand, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 02:18 (seventeen years ago)

Vince Neil has the weirdest enunciation of any lead singer I've ever heard.

Joey Ramone may have him beat.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 02:25 (seventeen years ago)

All Motley Crue's albums will debut on eMusic next month. I am not happy and I am not sad.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 24 February 2009 02:26 (seventeen years ago)

At least I could understand Joey. Neil's is just beyond weird, especially on those first two albums...but it somehow fits with the music.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

LOL I wish I could hear this record again. I'd have lots of LOL's.

Not that "Looks That Kill" is bad, mind you, but "Too Young To Fall In Love" is just fucking amazing.

lolling through my bagel (Pancakes Hackman), Monday, 2 March 2009 00:30 (seventeen years ago)

for the career best song i think i lean toward "Live Wire".

this is OTM

my favorite jam on this record is the 12-stringy deep-thinkin' reflective "God Bless the Children of the Beast." As to the Crue in general, I hate all you fuckers that diss them but shot all the people who like them.

Whiney G. Weingarten (J0hn D.), Monday, 2 March 2009 00:40 (seventeen years ago)

No one's mentioned "Danger" yet? My best friends died! I lost my mi-ind!

My runner-up vote would be "In the Beginning."

This is probably a stupid question, but why are there Egyptian hieroglyphics on the wall behind them in the TYTFIL video at the end? Anyway, that song.

Vulgar Display of Flowers (J3ff T.), Monday, 2 March 2009 22:58 (seventeen years ago)

Even in Guitar Hero, Shout at the Devil is no good

one year passes...

In the beginning, good always overpowered the evils of all man's sins.
But in time, nations grew weak, and cities fell to slums while evil stood strong.
In the depths of hell lurked the blackest of hates for he whom they feared awaited them.
Now, many many lifetimes later lay destroyed, beaten down,
Only the corpses of rebels and ashes of dreams on bloodstained streets
It had been written, that "those who are the youth have the future."
So come now, children of the beast, be strong! And shout at the devil!
