Legendary New London, CT trio the Condo Fucks returned to the stage last March after a long absence from the Tri-State Area's concert circuit. A secretive Hoboken rehearsal was recorded and is being released March 24, 2009 by Matador as the LP/CD, Fuckbook.

Eschewing such Condo Fucks originals as ‘Fuckin’ Gary Sandy’ and ‘Let’s Get Rid Of New Haven’, the trio – Georgia Condo (drums), Kid Condo (guitar), and James McNew (bass) – instead tear through covers of The Small Faces, Richard Hell, Beach Boys, Electric Eels, Troggs, Flaming Groovies and Slade classics in the style that previously won them so much acclaim from the Nutmeg State’s music journalists and radio programmers all those years ago.

In other words, Yo La Tengo make the electric sequel to "Fakebook". Should be fun! Have always loved YLT as a cover band ... even when they're "murdering the classics."

should show up with tomorrow's UPS, can't wait. i love yo la tengo for some strange reason, even long after i stopped listening to much indie rock.

in retrospective,their records sound more or less like a summary of most 90's indie rock music styles.
so if you used to listen to indie stuff back than, maybe thats the reason why.

Still haven't heard this, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it. Honestly, YLT should just make a yearly covers album -- they could just bang it out in a day, I'm sure.

ooh we had this at the radio station but I didn't know what it was, will play next week.

tylerw -- the story behind this one is that they recorded this in an afternoon, and it's pretty much the same "set" they played opening for the A-Bones at the Magnetic Field closing bash in Brooklyn last year.

aint heard it yet either. Ira did hilarious stab at Mark E Smith-singing-"Victoria" impression on WFMU last Friday.

ian, yeah, that's what I mean -- they take so long in between proper albums these days, it'd be cool if they just did a loose, barebones affair every year. I'd buy it.

i assume it was just meant to be a fun record anyway, but i think it works really well for what they're trying to do. "this is where i belong" is fantastic and rivals the orginal imo
