Lothar And The Hand People

First two Lothar albums, Presenting and Space Hymn, are as awesome as the first two Silver Apples records. There aren't any similarities between the two bands or albums, respectively or anything, but both bands were amazingly ahead of their time.

Lothar And The Hand People do wear their love (I presume) of Captain Beefheart and Fugs on their sleeves, especially on the first record.

Let's talk goodness about these upstanding Coloradans.

"Machines" is so awesome, especially today.

I read that as 'upsetting Coloradans,' which makes as much sense.

I am such an idiot for selling my copy of Space Hymn. If I hadn't, I might have more to say here.

lolz i was just thumbing through Nick Mason's bio the other night and he ref'd them dismissively - albeit in such a way that made them sound great to me.

Best Silver Apples >>>> Best Lothar, but otherwise I pretty much agree with the sentiment on this thread.

"Milkweed Love" from the first album is gorgeous. I think there is a copy of Space Hymn at the radio station I volunteer at, and my shift is tonight!
