Street Carp, My Own Summer, and Knife Prty make a case for the Deftones being quite more decent than most anybody was willing to admit...

well, not only do i "like" them, i also like them...

Deftones: Underrated?

i thought this commonly accepted that deftones were an ok band and 'white pony' is pretty good?

did that happen? i saw some certain things that implied something like that was in the works, but it seemed the condescension was a bit too pervasive to ever really dissipate...

i didn't mean like in scare quotes it was just to emphasize the stupid narrative.. reviewers make up categories and say things, people are like 'omg no ur wrong,' it is underrated bla bla. they were an ok band that i liked once and probably still do, fin

'white pony' to these ears is the sound of a band trying to over-reach without having the fundamental ingredients to transcend pedestrian alternative metal. it's a weird mess of a record, always a little too self conscious and always skirting around interesting sounds but never quite getting a grip on them.

'around the fur' on the other hand is straight to the point and pretty effective for it.

the song about putting the little butterfly chick or whatever in a cage and pulling her wings off is fantastic. dude.

I don't care what anybody says, I will gladly and defiantly stand in the middle of the street defying and daring anybody who thinks Deftones suck or are mediochre to kick me square in the nuts. I'll take it and smile (in addition to sterylize myself) just to prove to somebody out there that Deftones are not just one of the most underrated bands, they're one of The Best Bands period!

They've been inconsistent for their past 3 or 4 albums, but the best songs from these albums are all pretty great.. Minerva, Rx Queen, Digital Bath, Change.....

Yeah, man, if anything, this band is UNDERrated.

Yeah they have some sick covers.. Jawbox's "Savory" stands out for me.

man i've been listening to it in my car on a burned disc so i don't know titles really...

there's one that goes "there's a hole in the earth" that i really like.

also one song is great but then they ruin it at the end with this weird chick talking about buttsex and gross poop stuff.

it's very deftones qua deftones so it sort of floats my for me mostly, but i've been in that zone lately i guess.

I liked deftones when I was in high school and I'm guessing that if I hear one of their songs on the radio I'll do that inverse yell FWARRRRRRRRR thing

slipknot at least for the first 2 albums is pretty great, but incubus will always be a FNM clone...

a subpar FNM clone at that.
