Hamlet = Nu-Metal

It occured to me today, during my English Lit 100 exam, that Hamlet was the original nu-metaller. From a rich, well-educated background, he forsook a lot of his academic studies for angst release through fencing. He had a comfortable life, and yet still complained a lot. He dressed entirely in black, and spent long periods of time sulking. He did precious little to alleviate his despair, apart from complaining even more. He eventually got himself in a big tizzy rage at the end as well, the play equivalent of the guitar swell of nu-metal.

It then occured to me that Eminem is the new DH Lawrence. I'd explain, but I've just had a three and a half hour exam.

Any other literary characters who exemplify music?

Massive Attack (circa Mezzanine) are John Milton (circa Paradise Lost). I have a thing written about it somewhere, but I'm summer.

five years pass...

actually, dom, hamlet sounds more like a renaissance-era teenaged glenn danzig or henry rollins than anything else.
