(That's not meant to be snarky as I love Corbijn, particularly the Bunnymen stuff, and used to have his Joy Division subway shot as a practically life-sized blowup poster.)

Man, I completely remember that....and cringe-worthy it was. I saw that tour as well (the G'n'R/Metallica stadium tour) and remember being struck by the sheer number of times Axl changed his costume. I mean, that seems perfectly fine for someone like Cher or Liza Minelli to do, but it's not very rock'n'roll, I don't think. Considering how street-tough the Gunners used to portray themselves, to have their lead singer swanning offstage to change into some other ridiculous getup or another (be it the catcher's outfit, the kilt, the bike shorts, the 'charlie don't surf' t-shirt, the entirely-too-obvious NIN or Jane's Addiction shirts, the biker bondage Rob Halford hat, the furry pimp coat) seems a bit too fashion-conscious.

But enough about that. I've never understood why ILM has such a hard-on for U2. I frankly love their music. And, yes, I know Bono is a pretentious asshole. But he's an amusing pretentious asshole. Every time he opens his mouth, out comes something memorably bad. Well, I've got to go away now...and dream it all up again. Goodnight... You rock'n'roll doggies.
