Still, a classic. They were acid-dropping suburban kids who got hardcore and metal almost entirely wrong, instead creating one of the most exciting (unintentionally?) arty US punk bands.

Didn't realize indie rockers weren't generally allowed to like hardcore bands -- which is quite odd, being that most indie bands owe their existance to the efforts of the hardcore bands (read Azerrad's "Our Band Could Be Your Life" for pedantic proof).
Sure, Void were great, but give me S.O.A. any day.

That's so sad. I will cherish my memories seeing that bezerk, crazy band during the early '80s.

In the late 80s, there was a thrash band from Lebanon, OR called VOID. It stood for Victims of Internal Decay. They would play all of Slayer's Reign in Blood every Halloween. One of the guitarists played on a stool because he was missing his leg from the knee down (auto accident). Their shirts proudly proclaimed "Death on 9 Legs".
Original song titles from the VOID cassette included such hits as "Bart Simpson (he's a rad dude)" and "O.T.R. (on the rag)".

That Dischord re-issue is so, so awesome.
I got a kick out of the track that starts with someone in the room quoting the Jhoon Rhee commercial, as I expect many suburban D.C. 80s folks might.
― Walter Galt, Wednesday, 11 January 2012 12:54 (thirteen years ago)
I still need to pick that up. I remember that commercial--"Nobody bodder me, nobody bodder me eader"
― curmudgeon, Wednesday, 11 January 2012 14:32 (thirteen years ago)
Nils Lofgren did the music for that commercial (as well as the "Bullets Fever" ad)!
