Clear favorite so far = "Tricky Tricky" with Karin Dreijer-Andersson. Hard to really formulate coherent thoughts on this, though. There's so much going on, kind of like the first 2 or 3 times I heard Kish Kash.

Fever Ray is supporting Royksopp in London on April 11th, by the way.

Haven't heard anything but "Happy Up Here" yet, which sounds a lot like "Eple". But I am sure the album will be good, like the first two.

I hate to piss on everyone's bonfire but this is actually pretty dull. It seems to suffer from the same problems as the others, ie being bland as hell and two or three years behind the times.

The tracks with Karin on them are okay but the whole sound of it just made me want to put Silent Shout on. They're just not very good songwriters or producers.

i agree the artwork is kinda bad tho. it's either julian house jumping the shark (if he didn't already with the last Oasis album) or a pretty bad imitation of that style.

funny to read the Junior Boys album thread tho because they always get intellectualised in a way Royksopp never would (because the latter may be seen as 'too obvious' tho there's nothing wrong with being consciously more overt and vibrant. still don't buy the blandness criticism either).

also think dismissing them as not good songwriters is missing the point, much like if you were to say this about Air. production-wise i don't think there's much between the two either.

I dunno - I love Aeroplane so much it surprises me somewhat that I don't like this album more. Actually, I keep thinking of Stirmonster's criticism of Aeroplane has having this hugely offputting sheen on the production and while I disagree with him there, that's what I always think about Royksopp.

For the record I think Air are tremendous songwriters, and all of this stuff is about melody above all. I wanted to love The Girl And The Robot but the actual song sounds a bit laboured to me.

just heard it and i think it's great. probably could've come out 3 years ago but who gives a shit about that.

this is the problem I have with the Fever Ray album

That really should've been the other way around. 'Junior' sounds like a snoozer to me.

this LP sounds as good as The Understanding to me - which is fine. Half the tracks I thought were going to be kinda meh but after about 2 minutes I found myself loving them. Lykkke Li track is OK/her vocals end up just on the right side of irritating - but i prefer all the other guest vocalist tracks (maybe even You Don't Have A Clue the most).

So, any reason why Röyksopp and Kleerup use the exact same guest singers, more or less? :)

Hey, dahnce neophyte here, but this album was pretty enjoyable off one listen. I like the Karin tracks here way more than those on her mope-through-the-blandness solo album.

man if it was Kate Bush singing 'You Don't Have A Clue' i think i would die (add Liz Frasier on backing to be sure). i love Anneli Drecker's voice anyway.

Geir OTM, Drecker sounds more like Fraser than Bush especially towards the end of the song. Beautiful track BTW.

'Vision One' intro in my head all week

Recently I've taken a shine to the Lykke Li song. Pretty sure this has become my favorite of their albums, though.
