I would've voted La Roux :(

Little Boots may have better songs but I love LaRoux voice.

Marina & The Diamonds and thecocknbullkid PWN both of these, btw.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 15 March 2009 06:49 (sixteen years ago)

one month passes...

'Bulletproof' video is visually fun EXCEPT her awful permanent-scowl/expression of disgust face (yet to see her smile). More offputting than the voice.

two weeks pass...

La Roux sitting at #2 for ages, Little Boots tipped to go straight in at #1. Trust ILM to lose all interest in girls doing electropop at the exact point they become massively popular.

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Saturday, 23 May 2009 21:36 (sixteen years ago)

La Roux is about the least interesting of all the new UK girl electropop crop.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 23 May 2009 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

why these boring chicks and not roisin :(

La Roux is such a cunt but I love "Bulletproof".

I really really like the current La Roux single tho I had to look up who it was. I don't give a toss about their place within the genre or nothin' tho.

La Roux really isn't as bad as y'all are saying. Bulletproof is pretty okay

I like "Bulletproof" but she--and by 'she' i'm also referring to her face--is 100 percent indefensible

lol dope (Tape Store), Wednesday, 26 May 2010 03:26 (fifteen years ago)

How come this only showed up on the US charts two months ago? I guess the Ting Tings had a similar delay with "That's Not My Name."

Marina & The Diamonds and thecocknbullkid PWN both of these, btw.

I still stand by this statement.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 06:13 (fifteen years ago)

i think la roux is great despite their body of work as a whole not being as excellent as the first two singles -- really don't see what's so 'indefensible' about them. i am actually quite excited that bulletproof will be entering the top 10 of the hot 100 in a matter of weeks.

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 06:21 (fifteen years ago)

and by first two singles i really mean in for the kill and bulletproof, not quicksand and in for the kill

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 06:24 (fifteen years ago)

this still isnt as bad as when the uk discovered the cha cha slide like 5 yrs late

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Sunday, 30 May 2010 03:42 (fifteen years ago)

the verses of "bulletproof" sound like the chorus of "upside down"

Just checked. La Roux still suck.

As far as my championing of thecocknbullkid upthread, that's only for the pre-album singles/outtakes. The album was a snooze.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 31 August 2013 16:23 (eleven years ago)

"in for the kill" and "bulletproof" are both excellent/classic, altho the whole album is just kinda-maybe-good and i honestly wouldn't mind never hearing anything new from them again (i guess the whole elly-being-contemptible thing helps too)

I hate La Roux’s debut singles bur actually liked the Trouble in Paradise ones a lot and made me reconsider her. Seems the label and her fans didn’t like it as much which is a shame. Has she retired? It’s been a while.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Tuesday, 11 September 2018 00:25 (six years ago)

Let me down gently, uptight downtown, sexoteque and tropical chancer are all better than her first singles by miles.
