Kanye West – "Heartless"
Ne-Yo – "Miss Independent"
John Legend featuring André 3000 – "Green Light"
Rihanna – "Rehab"

these four amongst the rest of this shit is a pretty decent indicator of how many miles ahead radio r&b is than everything else on the dial

wow heaven is cool (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:09 (sixteen years ago)

wow heaven is cool (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:11 (sixteen years ago)

I used to like "Green Light," but one day a switch was flipped and now it makes my skin crawl. Unexplainable. I'm willing to be persecuted for this, but my vote goes to "Just Dance."

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:11 (sixteen years ago)

"Miss Independent" and "Green Light" are the only songs here I even kinda like. Voted for the former.

Terius (The Reverend), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:36 (sixteen years ago)

That's only even about a 7/10 to me.

Terius (The Reverend), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:36 (sixteen years ago)

you don't like saving abel?

wow heaven is cool (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:36 (sixteen years ago)

never even heard of them

Terius (The Reverend), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:53 (sixteen years ago)

In a compilation dominated by manufactured kidpop, went for "Womanizer" because it is actually a brilliant example of the genre as its best for once.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 8 March 2009 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

No, it's not. Far from.

Terius (The Reverend), Sunday, 8 March 2009 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

LOVE STORY

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:04 (sixteen years ago)

Very very easy: "Womanizer."

Nurse Detrius (Eric H.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:05 (sixteen years ago)

No, it's not. Far from.

I would say it is. Surely not as good as Annie or Kylie Minogue, but they aren't really manufactured in the same way either. And it is lightyears better than any contemporary R&B.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:07 (sixteen years ago)

voted 'Just Dance' so sue me.

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:08 (sixteen years ago)

Geir, it isn't even good as far as Britney Spears goes.

Terius (The Reverend), Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:10 (sixteen years ago)

It is much better than what she used to do in the past. Hopefully she will stay with the 80s style forever, because it is lightyears better than the R&B/hip-hop stuff she did in the early noughties, and also considerably better than the Max Martin style she did initially. "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Me Against The Music" remains the absolute lows of her career, with "Toxic" not much ahead. All staccato, way too minimalistic and generally horrible.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:14 (sixteen years ago)

"Love Story," "Crush" and "Rehab" are the best.

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Sunday, 8 March 2009 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

My girlfriend voted for Jason Mraz before I could stop her...

ilxor, Monday, 9 March 2009 00:02 (sixteen years ago)

not a huge fan of "Miss Independent" or "Green Light." or any of these songs for that matter.

note: any and all comma splices in this post are intentional (Curt1s Stephens), Monday, 9 March 2009 00:07 (sixteen years ago)

they must not be releasing these at the same rate they used to because keeps gettin better? i swear that peaked last summer or something.

lil waynes babymama (musically), Monday, 9 March 2009 00:10 (sixteen years ago)

I am pretty sure they don't release them at the same rate they used to. Digital downloading (legal and illegal alike) of single tracks has decreased the market of compilations like these considerably.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 9 March 2009 00:12 (sixteen years ago)

I have not heard a single one of these.

abanana, Monday, 9 March 2009 00:28 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Thursday, 19 March 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

"Womanizer". Current chartpop is maybe a bit better than it has been for a while. Generally the US audience has a worse taste in music than the European audiences though. Way too much R&B.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 19 March 2009 13:07 (sixteen years ago)

1. i hate this part
2. love story
3. miss independent
4. rehab
5. green light

then the rest

lex pretend, Thursday, 19 March 2009 13:17 (sixteen years ago)

Womanizer and Just Dance seemed pretty mediocre when I first heard them but they grew on me.

1 Britney Spears – "Womanizer"
2 Lady GaGa featuring Colby O'Donis – "Just Dance"
3 Rihanna – "Rehab"

Ianthe, Thursday, 19 March 2009 23:29 (sixteen years ago)

The Reverend, Friday, 20 March 2009 00:52 (sixteen years ago)

The better question is "who the hell voted for Nickelback?"

Johnny Fever, Friday, 20 March 2009 00:56 (sixteen years ago)

even better question: "who the hell voted for xtina?"

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Friday, 20 March 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)

i can't believe 'womanizer' and 'just die' got more votes than 'love story' and 'i hate this part' - the latter two are all-timers :(

lex pretend, Friday, 20 March 2009 01:13 (sixteen years ago)

oh, btw, you're sooooooo OTM about "Amnesia," lex
