wouldn't go

Surmounter, Monday, 9 March 2009 13:59 (sixteen years ago)

$100-200.

u s steel, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:00 (sixteen years ago)

maybe if it was free.
I don't think he's got any performing skills (voice, dancing...) left, has he ?

AleXTC, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:03 (sixteen years ago)

I'd pay 20 bucks if it was in a club. I hate stadium shows so the actual-possibility-vote is "wouldn't go" but that's because the nature of the show he's likely to put on just isn't gonna be my kinda thing. I would guess he could sing and dance just fine (better than just fine; we're talking here about a guy who at his peak was untouchable) if he felt like it/could get sane enough, but neither of those are likely.

Just one thing I was thinking about as I was getting on the copter (J0hn D.), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:04 (sixteen years ago)

I wouldn't go. I think Michael Jackson is great but the travelling, queueing up and so on would be too much effort.

dubmill, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:08 (sixteen years ago)

Get paid more likely. But even then I'd seriously have to consider whether I'd prefer this over... say... anotehr freakshow.

the tip of the tongue taking a trip tralalala (stevienixed), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:12 (sixteen years ago)

The last performance of him I saw was the jacksons anniversary thing circa 2000. it was in playback, he kept hiding his face and didn't do much dancing...

AleXTC, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:13 (sixteen years ago)

I think we'll have to wait until he's old enough to have Parkinsons and do the automatic Moondance.

Bonobos in Paneradise (Hurting 2), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:16 (sixteen years ago)

I wonder if he moves too much, body parts fall off. That'd be quite interesting to behold. Still, nope, I'd prefer to sit at home watching paint dry.

the tip of the tongue taking a trip tralalala (stevienixed), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:17 (sixteen years ago)

not in the slightest bit interested.

mark e, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:19 (sixteen years ago)

$40-60, just to see what it'd be like.

motherfucking michael jackson. i don't know how its possible to think clearly and think about michael jackson at the same time. listening in formative years has pretty much guaranteed my synapses overload with just a whiff. i'd find it easier to put a price on having my heart pulled out through my urethra. momus perfectly otm in that other jackson thread defending him against jarvis and his fellow admonishers.

ogmor, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:30 (sixteen years ago)

can I get paid not to go?

the chicano incarnation of benito juarez (primalfixations), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:34 (sixteen years ago)

"$500 - $1000"

doubt his own family would be willing to shell out that money.

the tip of the tongue taking a trip tralalala (stevienixed), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:38 (sixteen years ago)

I wouldn't go, I'd gladly eBay the ticket though to one of the (surprisingly few) suckers on this thread.

ilxor, Monday, 9 March 2009 14:44 (sixteen years ago)

I'd go if it was free, but mainly for people-watching. The audience would be a better show than MJ.

WmC, Monday, 9 March 2009 16:31 (sixteen years ago)

that makes me wonder : what is the fanbase of MJ nowadays ?
not teenagers/kids anymore, I suppose (and they were always his biggest fanbase, no ?).
maybe some 30smthgs who were huge fans in the 80s (like me) and who still think he has anything left in him (unlike me).

Free but that has nothing to do with MJ and everything to do with that fact that I'm a cheap bastard.

i wouldn't go btw because he probably wouldn't be able to stand up.

homiesexuals (Matt P), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 03:03 (sixteen years ago)

Fuck y'all, I'm a fan. I'd shell out 60 to see MJ.

i srsly wanna go but am worried what his abilities are these days. i dont expeect him to dance much but can he even still sing properly? last time i saw him theyd do dance routines and 'freeze' every so often presumably not for dramatic effect but so he could catch his breath again.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 11:08 (sixteen years ago)

Judging by that press conference, his fans are more insane than he is, those people are scary!

Queueing For Latchstrings (Tom D.), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 11:52 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Wednesday, 11 March 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

he seemed a bit overwhelmed by the fans reaction at the press conference - a few hundred crazies screaming "MICHAEL!!!!" - so I don't know how the hell he's going to deal with 20,000 of the same.

but I'm gonna try and get tickets tomorrow anyway.

Michael Jackson's 50 dates at London's O2 arena sell out

There's just no way he's going to get through all those dates is there?

Dom Cry For Me, Passantino (NickB), Friday, 13 March 2009 14:50 (sixteen years ago)

he will perform eight hours a night every night

it's going to be so awesome

Just one thing I was thinking about as I was getting on the copter (J0hn D.), Friday, 13 March 2009 14:53 (sixteen years ago)

That's, hold on, 50 x 5000 = about 250.000 of those little annoying yelps he's going to be doing!

StanM, Friday, 13 March 2009 21:32 (sixteen years ago)

three months pass...

Great tickets still available!

There were tickets still on sale on ebay yesterday getting bid-bombed into 8 figures.

Enemy Insects (NickB), Friday, 26 June 2009 14:44 (fifteen years ago)

8 FIGURES? Bullshit.

chap, Friday, 26 June 2009 14:58 (fifteen years ago)

Nope, one of them went up to £10,000,000, but obviously that was folks pissing about and ebay have taken those down now.

all the ones who aren't mental.

All of them? You don't have to surrender the paper ticket to get a refund, afaik, so they can keep the memento and get the cash back.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 June 2009 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

They demanded by Nirvana paper ticket back in 94 the fuckers. I really regret trading in for a measly fifteen quid.

chap, Friday, 26 June 2009 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

Don't be, any Nirvana tickets from that tour are worthless, I knew someone who worked at Riverman and they had boxes and boxes of unused tickets for the tour. I think they were going to frame them and sell them at one point.
