― sleep, Sunday, 15 March 2009 17:41 (sixteen years ago)
they're pretty good. of course i'm kind of a sucker for what one of my friends calls "distortion trash pop."
― paper plans (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 15 March 2009 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
they're excellent! i was just thinking about them a couple of days ago when i was listening to that 'condo fucks' record. sick to death is better than fuckbook though
― moonship journey to 51 (k3vin k.), Sunday, 15 March 2009 17:49 (sixteen years ago)
it's definitely some fine distortion trash popthe s/t and 'dead families' 7"s rule. LP rules. they have a new record coming this spring, im psyched.
― sleep, Monday, 16 March 2009 02:35 (sixteen years ago)
they do??
― moonship journey to 51 (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 March 2009 03:20 (sixteen years ago)
what's trash pop?
― Surmounter, Monday, 16 March 2009 03:21 (sixteen years ago)
srs question? basically ref-ing the lo-fi-ness and the weird ass mixing.
― moonship journey to 51 (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 March 2009 03:25 (sixteen years ago)
totally serious. that's what i was hoping -- i was deciding whether or not i wanted to give it a whirl
― Surmounter, Monday, 16 March 2009 03:26 (sixteen years ago)
i can totally see why people wouldt want to fuck with this, the mixing can get really frustrating. but there's some undeniable tunes and the rest really reveal themselves after a few listens. sick to death is their record btw
― moonship journey to 51 (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 March 2009 03:28 (sixteen years ago)
wouldn't*
i like it.
― Surmounter, Monday, 16 March 2009 03:32 (sixteen years ago)
new record has leaked! probably setting myself up for disappointment considering how much i liked the last one, but i'll listen tomorrow.
― prostitutes all over the place (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 7 April 2009 04:47 (sixteen years ago)
enjoying "wild and inside." definitely a little cleaner sounding than the first one. full of catchy summer jams or something...
― Professor Respect, Sunday, 19 April 2009 21:58 (sixteen years ago)
It's available on eMusic now. Definitely sounds cleaner. I've heard very little buzz about the disc. Are we still technically before the official release date?
― Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 19 April 2009 22:14 (sixteen years ago)
saw them live. it was okay. audience provocation a little forced and not actually threatening. maybe id like the recordings.
― filthy dylan, Monday, 20 April 2009 05:08 (sixteen years ago)
i'm just here to say that "cooking a way to be happy" is my new favorite song - the first eat skull song to really connect with me on more than a surface level
― Beatrix Kiddo, Thursday, 11 June 2009 09:42 (sixteen years ago)
I really like the new album, not sure why it's gotten such a ho-hum reaction
― 鬼の手 (Edward III), Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:55 (sixteen years ago)
It seems like kind of a downer to me, but I haven't really gotten to know it yet.
― Trip Maker, Thursday, 11 June 2009 16:56 (sixteen years ago)
downer + lofi is like coffee + cream
― 鬼の手 (Edward III), Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:08 (sixteen years ago)
dead families rules, sick to death is ok, ganglians split is ok (like the ganglians side better), new lp is pretty great! they've been hit-or-miss live and though they're nice dudes the statement above about audience provocation is otm.
― pretzel walrus, Thursday, 11 June 2009 17:51 (sixteen years ago)
trying to picture eat skull audience provocation FAIL and coming up with the lead singer getting up in ppl's faces and threatening to give them such a pinch
― 鬼の手 (Edward III), Thursday, 11 June 2009 18:42 (sixteen years ago)
never heard these dudes, but i'm listenin to dead families and it rules

Stick to the formula! It really is growing on me.Fave track right now is "Oregon Dreaming."
― Trip Maker, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 20:41 (sixteen years ago)
yes! are the other records this good? man, i am digging this a bunch
― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 20:42 (sixteen years ago)
even when i'm listening to this on my ipod, i still feel like i'm listening to it on a walkman
― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 20:43 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah, if you like it, check out Sick to Death and the Dead Families 7" for sure. The Hole Class record (collab btw singer of Eat Skull and Beth from Times New Viking) is interesting, but I don't own it, just heard it from a bro.
― Trip Maker, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 20:46 (sixteen years ago)
distortion trash pop 4eva.
― Jermajesty's Secret Cervix (Pillbox), Tuesday, 30 June 2009 20:50 (sixteen years ago)
eat skull? more like Lake Slut
― ian, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 21:27 (sixteen years ago)
does that mean you don't like them or is that your new band because i dig the name
― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 21:30 (sixteen years ago)
sick to death is classic, que

― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)
Eat Skull and Lake Slut are ok, but my band, Kale Lust, is much better
xpost damnit
― uptown churl, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)
ian have you been reading sexyDancer's twitter
― dmr, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 22:56 (sixteen years ago)
oh wait that's palindromes not anagrams. doh!
another vote for Sick to Death. new one is pretty good but the first track is SO good I don't listen past it that often!
Sick to Death is more gnarly/weird/lofi but still catchy songs.
― dmr, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 22:58 (sixteen years ago)
i don't have a twitter or read a twitter. i do have a poetry book that has sexydancer anagrams in it, though. fucking poetry.

TEEMS PITH (96) sez
WaI >> StD, primarily by virtue of how it takes PUNK TRIPS as a blueprint, then sensitively expands on it with NZ-y elements

some of it reminds me of space needle vis a vis songwriting, shitty keyboards, lo-fi
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 8 March 2013 20:30 (twelve years ago)
I have liked everything I have heard off of this record so far, but have not heard the whole record. I'll get around to it at some point, but definitely feeling it bit by bit ...
― grandavis, Friday, 8 March 2013 21:14 (twelve years ago)
it's pretty good, I still like their first one best though
― dmr, Saturday, 9 March 2013 19:12 (twelve years ago)
SICK TO DEATH is such a forgotten classic. hits every time
― brony james (k3vin k.), Thursday, 9 May 2024 22:16 (one year ago)
I think about this band way more often than I should — one of the most memorable of that late 00s lo-fi scene along with Psychedelic Horseshit. Caught them live several times between like ‘08 and ‘10, wish I could remember more about it now but that whole era of my life is kind of one giant blur.
― Slim is an Alien, Thursday, 9 May 2024 22:35 (one year ago)
good band. I have Sick To Death and a couple of their singles. saw them live around 2010 - don't remember any audience provocation, I do remember them covering Did You Really Think by No Comment (not the powerviolence band, an obscure UK "Messthetics" type band, the song is from a Fuck Off Records compilation tape)
I don't think I even knew they had a 3rd album and definitely haven't heard it!
