This was the year I shipped off to grad school, and so to the extent that I even sort of followed charting albums (or any albums I guess) before that, it was all over now. Curious about poll results as recommendations for hot new music to check out, really...

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 18 March 2009 00:10 (sixteen years ago)

High School Musical, I guess, over JT, Dixie Chicks, and Ne-Yo. But nothing here really kills me.

Voted Juvenile but I loved a lot of things on this list. Is the Prince/Danity Kane/Dylan (for someone who hasn't liked a Dylan record since Blood on the tracks)/Jeezy/Game records worth hearing? I remember not caring for the Jeezy but considering how much I love The Recession+The first one, maybe I should go back.

silly ho (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 18 March 2009 08:48 (sixteen years ago)

The Jeezy record isn't quite as good as the one proceeding or following, but still pretty entertaining. The Prince is pretty hit or miss, but when Prince is on, whoo boy. The Game record is more consistent than, but not as filled with hits as, his debut. It's a bizarrely compelling record in that he kind of crosses the line from fanboy to obsessive, and doesn't mind showing it even when it's a bit discomfitting, but couches it in an all-points tribute to the halcyon days of L.A. rap. Can't comment on the Dylan or DK.

Decemberunderground is great, one of the best mainstream rock albums of the decade. I like the Prince too but I haven't listened to it since 06.
