MSTRKRFT - Fist of God

Anyone heard this? On the first couple of listens it sounds great, a lot better than their last one. More fun, and sounding more Ed Banger at each listen. I don't think anyone who doesn't like this kind of thing already would be convinced by it, but if you like Ed Banger and half of The Looks then it's worth an ass-shake imho.

Bah, should be on ILM. Can a lovely MOD move it over pls?

(Not that ILM cares too much I guess, but hey)

Aaah, cheers MOD

i heard a guy i design for speaking one of the minor indie electro band he PRs for and had to choke back giggles as he told them the real money would be there for them if they just cut up the drums 'like ed bangers' in a voice scarily similar to murray from flight of the concords. He had obviously been listening to this record

I was all anxious to hear this yesterday reading some of the reviews, but I stopped by the local shop to find out it doesn't come out until next week.

wow, I just ran through the whole thing and I have to say they're pretty on par with the sound they aimed for. I think I appriciate this album as much as the looks.

Something about these guys bypasses every critical faculty I have and j umps directly up and down on my pleasure centers. This album is fucking incredible to me.

I'm really not feeling the new album. Perhaps I should give it another listen...

All of that 120-138 distorted filter shit with massive beats and swearing is basically a blow-by-blow lesson in how to pander to my musical tastes.

I might have to listen to The Looks again later. It's been ages but I really liked it at the time. Then maybe give this a bash.

That review is OTM re: the album largely sounding the same, but is wholly wrong about it sounding hollow; the thickness of these tracks is exactly why I like their wannabe-Daft-Punk schtick more than I like Daft Punk nowadays.

OMG my hate level for cokemachineglow just went up about 4 billion levels.

I've become completely obsessed with the segue from "Click Click" into "Word Up". I wonder what the cokemachineglow dude would have made of 80 AUM back in the day.

wait, so bands are fundamentally responsible for who their fans are, and it's a band's duty to have fans that critics approve of and identify with?

I mean, I don't care for or about this particular band or what have you, but I have to say that this review makes me feel sorry for them. Imagine putting in all the work that it takes to create an album and *this* is what happens to it.

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Monday, 30 March 2009 16:30 (sixteen years ago)

hahaha I've been reading a bunch of reviews where people are LOATHING the Ghostface track, mostly for not being Ghostafacey enough. This is fucking brilliant to me.

I will freely and unapologetically admit that I like this album so much because 80% of it sounds like an extended riff on the Wild Pitch remix of "I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing" off of Disco 2.
