Animal Collective- Animal Crack Box (2009)

The music here is all recorded live to MiniDisc at various locations over the course of the course of the first three years or so of the band. The songs veer from the early percussion/feedback wailings to the Campfire Songs style acoustica to wall of sound forest children vocal chanting. The sonics are rough in places as these were recorded more for reference than for an actual release, but the power of the songs and the band's uncompromising intensity are apparent all the way through.

I don't know anything about this, but I'm assuming this is not a "studio album" as much as a hodgepodge/outtakes/life collection, right?

I feel bad for suckas who buy this thing (the eBay link says there will only be 1000 copies on vinyl, no CD, so it'll probably be pretty expensive), but I bet there will be a couple of scattered gems on there.

More excited about this than MPP, well the rars anyway.

The version of Mouth Wooed her is even worse than any number of AC live sets I've d/led and deleted off my itunes jus sayin

this is a great, underrated live comp of their first three years. totally seminal band of the 2000s

nervous about looking on ebay to see how much a copy of the box set costs
