Has anyone ever fathomed WHY the Doors cover exists?

Title track, but I love Karmacoma and Sly almost as much. I can't imagine ever wanting to play this album in its entirety again though.

I'm gonna have to listen to this all again before voting, but I'm pretty damn sure it's gonna be the yawnsome vote from me

I just played this last night for my mother-in-law, who basically fell in love with it and wanted to run off to a smoky den with a large drink to properly enjoy it.

(Not quite as impressive as making my dad fall in love with Music Has A Right To Children the week before, though.)

"Sly" is the track I've reached now, and it's easily the closest challenger to "Protection". Obviously wasn't listening first time I heard it.

obv choice = "Protection" (which I have no beef with, it's a fantastic song, but "Sly" also melts my heart; "Eurochild" does too but I am pretty certain that song isn't going to be anyone's first choice from this album)

Yeah this is just about the only Massive Attack album without an obvious choice on it.

i never really feel i "got" the hype around massive attack, but i just voted for "spying glass" when i meant to vote for "sly" which is my favourite MA track. Spying Glass ain't too bad though.

they all have one track which is more obvious by dint of being 10 times better known than the rest, but not in terms of quality - i don't think i'd go for any of the best known tracks.

I think Tracey sings "Better Days" much better than she sings "Protection" but the musical synergy running between everything on "Protection" elevates it.

Listened to the whole album again just to make sure, but yeah, title track.

i love the whole album except for the Doors cover thing. i voted Protection because i am boring, but i always loved Weather Storm as well.

I'm intensely curious as to the Gen Y consensus on Massive Attack.

For me, these are some of the few records that despite being consistently bludgeoned with in the worst possible contexts, I still unreservedly like.

for a long time it was 'sly' for me (except the annoying stringy solo right at the end), which btw was the LEAD SINGLE so no, not really an obscure choice, but now it's 'protection', which is pretty much perfect.

it's not their fault that this album got played to death. 'protection' itself i don't feel got that rinsed out tho.

wish they'd done MORE stuff like 'light my fire' tbh, rather than proto-generic trip-hop ish like 'weather storm' and 'better things'. love the wild bunch comp on strut.
