Bluejeans and Moonbeams BEEFHEART POLL

Disappointing in as much as it's a bit short of real Beefheartian stuff, consisting of one instrumental that may well have no involvement from anyone in the band at all, and a rare cover version. But some truly reflective moments. 50% of a Beefheart album? Or the album John Peel might have made if tasked with making a Beefheart album?

Observatory Crest is a great song. Premo should've looped up the intro in the late 90s.

can't handle it as an album, but Observatory Crest is the kind of song iTunes was made for

I voted for the JJ Cale cover - that song rules. Actually, this whole album is kinda unfairly maligned - the first half is great

Taken on it's own terms, and not as a Captain Beefheart album, this is a perfectly fine 70s rock album which also happens to have some amazing singing on it

Sacco, Vanzetti, Passantino... (Tom D.), Monday, 30 March 2009 12:18 (sixteen years ago)

well, yes.

I've always avoided this, but his other pop album from that era isn't too bad, so maybe I should pick one up and fill in the last missing hole. Ironically, I never owned a copy of the tribute album, Fast 'n' Bulbous from 1988 with Sonic Youth and XTC either, so I just downloaded last night. Nearly half the covers are from Clear Spot.

Overlooked this poll, but "Observatory Crest" didn't need my vote.

Incidentally, this thread reminds me: where's Stewart Osborne been for the last half-year? Haven't seen any posts from him in at least that many months. Or did he just change his username to something I don't recognize?

The revival/creation of a Beefheart thread usually brings him forth, but not recently, no.

one year passes...

This is decent. Much of what I've read over the years leads me to believe this is one of the worst albums ever made, but it's an OK 70s rock album with a couple of good songs.
