TS: "Radio Ga Ga" by Queen vs. "Video Killed The Radio Star" by the Buggles

Battle of the knowing laments for a bygone age of music! The Buggles song packs a heavier punch (and was five years earlier!) but certainly there's a little more spirit in Freddie's vocals than the weedy "Old-Time Radio" plugin on VKtRS. Great synth bridge in the Queen song, too.

Is anybody doing songs like this now for the tragic loss of CD to MP3, etc? Tom Petty's "The Last DJ" rehashes "Radio Ga Ga" pretty clearly in terms of bad radio programming, but there must be someone recording ILX-grandpa-style whining about the kids with their headphones and their shuffle and being cut off from society etc etc.

I like "Radio Ga Ga", but "Video Killed The Radio Star" is, like, an eternal classic and a very brilliant example of an early new romantic style, so Buggles have this one. Even if "Bohemian Rhapsody" >> anything Trevor Horn or Geoff Downes have ever been involved in.

seven years pass...

I feel this was slept on. Maybe less the song vs. song aspect which seems like the Buggles in a walk to me, but the other question about format laments, or at least like, dumb songs about how "back when I was a kid MTV still played videos, maannn" or whatever. Surely there must be examples?
