The Body & Soul Party at Mansion.
Francois Kevorkian, Danny Krivit and Joe Claussell just put together an epic, timeless, amazing afternoon. We arrived just before 3 and danced straight through for damn near 5 hours. I think I stopped once for a drink (a $23 vodka cran?? ugh south beach. just ugh) and once to pee, and otherwise didn't stop. hypnotic and totally engaging at the same time - they tag teamed the decks and just WORKED the crowd. My first time seeing Claussell and his dancing and body grooving on the EQs was an amazing sight to behold. He brought the organ tracks and pumped and tweaked them, Francois K brought the drum fierceness, and Danny brought the soul diva vocals. What was even more intense was the crowd that was just totally having it. The place was jam packed and *everybody* was dancing, even the wallfowers who couldn't get onto the dancefloor were rockin in the hallways, bar areas, on top of the couches. I took some pretty good video but it's all said and done about 1.5GB and I can't find anywhere to upload it....
After Body & Soul, we went to see Kenny Dope and DJ Sneak, then onto soak our feet in the hot tub and dinner, thank you Jesus. A quick shower, and some coffee, then back out to Danny Tenaglia at Score. Which was also pretty ferocious. Miss T was diggin out the backs of her crates and droppin some classic era fierceness. Fun night and another totally great crowd. We left there about 4:30 amid rumors that at 5 they were going to close the doors (because they had to?) and anyone inside after that would be staying for a long ride into the daylight with his highness.
Next day? two hours sleep, a much needed cuban coffee, a trip to the sauna, a falafel and two beers, and onto the Ultra festival. Hot as fuckmegetout, but Tiefschwarz and MANDY put on a blazing set. Also enjoyed the short but sweet Late Of the Pier live set, Cut Copy were aces - and made a big todo about that being the last stop on their many-month-long world tour, and did enjoy the set by 2020 Soundsystem, even if there was no one else around dancing, which made it feel kinda sad and desperate. Had about my fill when my friends insisted on watching Above and Beyond's set, and wandered over to see Hybrid with a DJ set, which was ok. But by then the day's heat, the dirt and the very short night all caught up with me and I told my boys I'd be back later to pick them up. Wound up back at Segafredo listening to the amazing DJs there. Wanted to hit the Aquabooty/Innervisions party but I was just done by then. Tired and glad to just be chilling out.
Which brings my nonlinear tale back to Thursday - which involved a late departure from work, a disappointing Beatport party with noisy "video game bullshit" as my buddy D put it. Then onto Buzzin Fly vs Diynamic party, but we kinda wound up missing most of that and just went down Lincoln Rd to Segafredo and found an amazing DJ playing beautiful stuff and locals just dancing in the sidewalk. We danced there for at least an hour and then decided to leave for dinner. After dinner, we had plans to go back out, but the veal chop, red wine and chocolate cake from Ice Box did in my plans. But the good night's sleep was much needed.
Overall 3 very great days, can't wait to next year. :)

Also, there was at least three times I heard this nice deep re-edit/rework of Moloko's Sing It Back. It was just the vocal accapella lifted onto a very dubby and deep track, Claussell worked it for all it was worth. Anyone have any ideas what it might be?
