I'm not sure I could really deal with a whole album of D Double but I've been meaning to check this out.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 11:27 (fifteen years ago) link

dee can both be a bit 1 dimensional but as long as the album plays to their strengths it should be decent.

"the horrifically titled "Bell Dem Slags"."

should have been called Telephone Those Loose Moraled Women.

somebody bell them chicks
tell them that we got a car full of dick

bring meeee bring meeee

love it.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:08 (fifteen years ago) link

dont need any more rave tributes tho.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:09 (fifteen years ago) link

i know you got them links for me maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

have the most amazing radio rip of them doing bell them slags from a year or so back where they wheel back the intro about 6 times

call 'em blud call 'em

look at you: lookin' like a lobster (tpp), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:14 (fifteen years ago) link

also Munky was shit and I'm glad they got rid of him but he did always bring the lols:
"like a twig, or a branch, i'll break you down just like an avalanche"
"beat you with a spade, then i will make your mum my maid"

look at you: lookin' like a lobster (tpp), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:17 (fifteen years ago) link

lol. i hope the albums coherent. i can just imagine d double somehow sliding in new variations of 'think you a big boy cos you got a beard/mash/leng/etc etc' into every track with footsie talking about something else.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:26 (fifteen years ago) link

I wonder if the version of "Supadupe" is the old Statik version.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Kind of hard to believe this is actually coming out.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link

i almost dont want it to.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:14 (fifteen years ago) link

It's okay, no one will buy it anyway so you can just pretend it didn't.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:19 (fifteen years ago) link

this has been staring at me from my desk for a week now, daring me to listen to it. i've been staring back in trepidation. word from a braver soul than i is that there is a nu-metal track on it :/

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:24 (fifteen years ago) link

There's a nu-metal track on Maths & English as well and it is awesome.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:25 (fifteen years ago) link

I suspect this just means "there are guitars".

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:26 (fifteen years ago) link

uh is there? i literally don't remember

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:26 (fifteen years ago) link

OHHH you mean 'sirens'. 'sirens' is rubbish.

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:26 (fifteen years ago) link

i keep getting worried that footsie is talking it up as a 'dance' album.

xpost - your friend must be thinking of head get mangled which isnt really nu metal, more 'sirens' meets the prodigy.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Sirens is pretty much the only grime-gone-metal track that is actually any good.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:31 (fifteen years ago) link

i cant think of any others, except maybe bruza's the rush.

i get fatigued listening to grime these days - dont really need to hear any more lyrics about how someones gonna get shot/stabbed/shanked etc etc. i think i prefer mysognystic grime, like bell dem.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:34 (fifteen years ago) link

and durrty goodz' 'housewife'! nursery rhyme chorus of YOU CAN'T TURN A HO INTO A HOUSEWIFE

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:35 (fifteen years ago) link

actually the whole ultrasound mixtape is pretty topnotch though it is ironic, let's say, that the best track is the 4x4 electro banger that he makes to take the piss out of how everyone's bandwaginning that sound

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:37 (fifteen years ago) link

i found ultrasound a bit boring (esp compared to axiom). too much bloody moaning and talk about 'the scene'.

ill re-check that 4x4 track but i found that with the last roll deep album - i like the dancier tracks best.

that pepper song on the NG's album is a lot of fun (for similar reasons).

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:39 (fifteen years ago) link

What was that one that used the deftones? Was that 'The Rush' ? that was awesome!!!

look at you: lookin' like a lobster (tpp), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:40 (fifteen years ago) link

that kano single? that wasnt bad, yeah. better than sirens.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:41 (fifteen years ago) link

oh yeah that kano single. what was it called! i remember he attempted to cross over with a nu-metal track, then he attempted to cross over with a salsa track :/

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:47 (fifteen years ago) link

also apropos of little, tinchy stryder is currently twittering about how kanye "kills the verse" on the new keri hilson single. this is the verse in which kanye actually rhymes "OMG" with "woe is me" :((((((

lex pretend, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:48 (fifteen years ago) link

The Kano track was Typical Me, and that really WAS rubbish. At least Sirens has momentum.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:49 (fifteen years ago) link

i dont like sirens cos its like hes trying to rap 'properly'. dizzee just bores the shit out of me these days when hes not rapping about girls/raves/girls in raves. listening to him on radio with the generals is just instant zzz. prob be better when he has some new songs out im sure, but still, that bonkers track with armand can helden is a complete POS.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 13:58 (fifteen years ago) link

its out now. listened a couple of times. its definitely decent, but not flawless like youd hope. i like it quite a bit, but some of the hooks are a bit shit, one sounds like the streets, two are by chrome who was on dance wiv me :( and pepper has a pretty stupid call and response section. the vocal fx work sometimes but it sounds a bit cheap on pepper (which is otherwise brilliant). its good but except for bell dem, i cant think of any tracks that i think are perfect on it. and after this long i wouldnt have minded a few of those.

Yellow Carded (titchyschneiderMk2), Monday, 6 April 2009 09:57 (fifteen years ago) link

one month passes...

this is ok, Violence is a jam. Sign of Brown's Broken Britain that the best track is about shooting people :'(

languid samuel l. jackson (jim), Wednesday, 20 May 2009 02:10 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah this isn't a bad album at all! agree that 'violence' is the best thing on it.

lex pretend, Wednesday, 20 May 2009 06:36 (fifteen years ago) link

nahhh, best tracks are dats normal, supadupe, dell dem, and pepper (tho i need to find a way to edit that 'aaaave it!' bit out). i love those. i even like head get mangled and mind is a gun now. violence is cool but d double instead of dizzee shd have been on it. i add lemon and murked again to my album.

titchy (titchyschneiderMk2), Wednesday, 20 May 2009 09:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I wonder if ILM would care if there were crap electrohouse songs on this instead of crap d'n'b .

languid samuel l. jackson (jim), Thursday, 21 May 2009 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Altho tbh it's nothing out of this world and this is 09 so maybe it's fair enough.
