Going Down to LiverPOLL (Katrina & The Waves vs. The Bangles)

Recorded in 1983 by Katrina & The Waves, in 1984 by The Bangles, and again in 1985 by Katrina & The Waves (in a supercharged, superproduced rearrangement). It's a shame the trend didn't continue for the rest of the '80s, with a different band covering the song and K&TW coming back with a newer version the following year...but they ran out of steam.

Which is your favorite?

Big advantage to the Bangles for having Leonary Nimoy in the video:

Also, for reference, the '85 version by K&TW:

Bangles, although props to Katrina & The Waves for actually writing the song.

Almost a bit like a "Hey Joe" for the 80s, except it was covered in considerably less versions.

That Bangles video is downright strange.

The first K&TW version did sound almost exactly like The Bangles' version, I just couldn't find any representation of it on the web.

I didn't know there were two Katrina versions. I'll have to catch up.

Second K+Ws version was lame, must investigate the ur-version.

(Relative) Landslide!

Has Susanna Hoffs ever looked directly into the camera for more than two seconds?

Funny, cause if you ever went to a Bangles gig, she always seemed to be looking at some camera out in the outside somewhere.
