Here is something you can't understand; I'm voting for the second track.

nicky lo-fi, Tuesday, 7 April 2009 06:02 (sixteen years ago)

HOTP for the "Duke of Earl" loop alone.

Imaginary Dead Baseball Players Live in My Cornfield (Pillbox), Tuesday, 7 April 2009 06:07 (sixteen years ago)

I forget how flipping great this album is. Talk about a cool band who totally lost it after their second album. "Pigs" is just brilliant so I voted for that.

Hard to imagine a rap group coming out with a deliberate image of broke ass petty criminals/homeless scam artists barely getting by these days. That album cover with them huddled around a burning trash barrel looking like they got caught on a security camera!

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

"Hand on the Pump" for sure. "Pigs" was such a startling initial listen to this album, though: not just cop killing fantasies but cop rape fantasies. I had a very ambiguous relationship to this album: listened the shit out of it but was never sure of what that meant.

So I'm listening to this record for the first time in a long time & it occurs to me that DJ Muggs is one of the great, undersung producers/sample-craftsmen in hip-hop.

Imaginary Dead Baseball Players Live in My Cornfield (Pillbox), Saturday, 11 April 2009 14:44 (sixteen years ago)

did not know he was undersung. maybe that's an age thing, ie people were all over his jock back then

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Saturday, 11 April 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, he had enough clout to get soul assassins happening ...

Hand on the Pump definitely owns this poll.

I was in High School when this came out and people were freaking out over it. I enjoyed their follow-ups, but there was a definite decline in quality that was kind of a bummer.

Moodles, Saturday, 11 April 2009 21:40 (sixteen years ago)

I'm sorry about "Ultraviolet Dreams" or "Something for the Blunted" I viewed them more as DJ breaks, but I sure didn't mean to hate. Mucho mi amore the whole album
