pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:16 (seventeen years ago)

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:20 (seventeen years ago)

doesnt my user nick give it away?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:21 (seventeen years ago)

d'oh!

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:21 (seventeen years ago)

My fave MC5 album deserves a vote though.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:22 (seventeen years ago)

Wonder how many of these albums are on spotify. Someone could make a playlist

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:23 (seventeen years ago)

voted for sonny sharrock guitar -- one of those definition-stretching choices that i agree with

abanana, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:47 (seventeen years ago)

gonna be consistent with the last poll and vote for Kix again, although Purple Rain is tempting.

andrei armpitshavin (some dude), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 12:48 (seventeen years ago)

and when u run out of Kix albums to vote for?

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:11 (seventeen years ago)

i'll vote for something else?

andrei armpitshavin (some dude), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:13 (seventeen years ago)

aha.

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:15 (seventeen years ago)

I wonder if my local library still has this book.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:39 (seventeen years ago)

Album misspelled above: Three Johns Atom Drum Bop

Albums I can't believe I got rid of: Michigan Rocks; Dust Hard Attack; Amon Duul II Dance of the Lemmings; Bad Religion Into The Unknown (the first album I ever got paid to write about, by the way.)

Not sure what I'll to vote for. Going by the what-I'd-want-to-hear-now rule, maybe the Vibrators or Suzi Quatro. Or something else.

What the heck, I'll go with Ubu I guess.

xhuxk, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:42 (seventeen years ago)

haha--i think i copied the list (spelling errors and all) from some unspecified site or other many years ago. maybe.

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:47 (seventeen years ago)

i would probably suggest ban half of ilm to hear that Michigan Rocks record.

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:49 (seventeen years ago)

Pere Ubu.

Mark G, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 13:59 (seventeen years ago)

I'll vote for BOC even though its their least metal album.

Bill Magill, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:06 (seventeen years ago)

Another one that I'm amazed that nobody ever seems to complain about me including: Meat Loaf. (I mean, I guess the LP cover looks metal, right?)

xhuxk, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

Stupidest selection above: Extreme, Pornograffitti.

xhuxk, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

These polls have persuaded me to order a copy of the book from Amazon, can't believe I've not done it sooner. Already curious to hear what Kix actually sound like...

Would probably go with Led Zep III or Meaty Beaty... of the ones I've heard here by the way.

Gavin in Leeds, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

you owe me a drink, xhuxk.

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:41 (seventeen years ago)

xp Vital Idol is a pretty weird choice nobody ever seems to mind much, too -- It's a remix album, for God's sake. Probably was just the closest thing to a best-of at my disposal at the time. (Now I've got a 2001 CD called Greatest Hits that would have made a little more sense.) Though I guess he went on to inpsire bands like Bang Tango, which I guess makes him metal enough for people.

Bryan Adams a weird one, too (despite the climactic dumpster solo), but that's a great album, so who cares. (Also, people do complain about it sometimes.)

xhuxk, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:50 (seventeen years ago)

you owe me a drink, xhuxk

Yeah right -- as soon as I get my first royalty check. (I estimate by the year 3000, maybe.)

xhuxk, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

didn't that one make it on a Kerrrang top 10 list once?

xp

i'll hold you to it.

\m/ piece n' luv \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

I'll vote for BOC even though its their least metal album.

^^^^I'm ruling that one out for just that very reason, even though it's a stone ice-cold classic. Same deal with Parliament/Zep/Prince/The Who. In the end, it'll come down to Ubu or the Velvets.

As a whole, I love this second 50 more than the first, aside from the half-dozen I'm unfamiliar with. (I can't believe that Bad Religion album still hasn't been reissued)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 15:08 (seventeen years ago)

I think Greg Graffin genuinely still hates it! It's his very own hair-metal-Pantera.

Meta Loaf and Bryan Adams were both Kerrang! regulars in the 80s/early 90s so it's not like Chuck was out there on his own

National Lampoon's Minimal House (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 15:26 (seventeen years ago)

you post on ilx way too much

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 15:37 (seventeen years ago)

Meta Loaf is my new favorite typo.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 16:43 (seventeen years ago)

Haha didn't notice that, it is now mine

xp errr "OK"

National Lampoon's Minimal House (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

thanks!

\m/ meta loaf \m/ (Ioannis), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 17:15 (seventeen years ago)

dj mencap i was referring to the fact you said "meta" instead of "meat"

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

Who is really guilty, he who does notice or he who doesn't????? CONUNDRUM

National Lampoon's Minimal House (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

where is dj martian these days?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 8 April 2009 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

Lotsa great stuff: Osmonds, Samoans, my two fave Motorheads (Orgasmatron never gets enough love), Dust, The Sweet (even though they're a singles act), etc. But I always gotta go for the greatest album of the 1970s: New York Dolls: In Too Much Too Soon.

I fell in love with Dance of the Lemmings once and have never been able to access that feeling again. Still don't get The Pink Fairies. And Myonga, how one earth is Osmium Parliament's least metal album??

P.S. Meta Loaf, please make an album.

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 22:04 (seventeen years ago)

lol how ON earth

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 8 April 2009 22:09 (seventeen years ago)

bump

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 10 April 2009 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

xxpost - Yeah, I coulda clarified that a lot better, couldn't I? Basically I was being lazy and quoting the term "least metal" to describe a scarcity of metal in general on Osmium (and those other albums) even thought it's surely their HEAVIEST. (Same goes for Purple Rain.) The fact that I included Led Zep III amongst them gave the false impression that I knew exactly what I was trying to say!

Really, though, it all comes down to finding imaginary excuses to eliminate perfectly wonderful LPs from contention just to make it easier to vote for one and-one-only. (And ultimately that one is White Light/White Heat.)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Friday, 10 April 2009 19:14 (seventeen years ago)

Lots of good stuff on this list. Live Rust deserves at least one vote, so that.

Brad C., Friday, 10 April 2009 19:58 (seventeen years ago)

voted for sonny sharrock guitar [...]
― abanana

voted for Guitar as well.

t**t, Saturday, 11 April 2009 12:12 (seventeen years ago)

Matt P you've lost this battle before it's even begun.

xhuxk, Monday, 13 April 2009 01:54 (seventeen years ago)

\m/ metal oaf \m/ (Ioannis), Monday, 13 April 2009 08:18 (seventeen years ago)

haha--how much weight does pfunkboy pull around here anyway?

If Cosmic Slop wins poll #3 we'll know it's a conspiracy!

Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 13 April 2009 08:40 (seventeen years ago)
