I posted this on another Mutek thread but turns out it was on ILE. Sorry for the annoyance. Anyways, this could be the 2009 catch-all ILM thread for people going to the festival.
I'm thinking about going this year, but as a total newbie, I'd really appreciate some feedback on the following:
- Is Mutek night-based, or is it an all-day shindig like Sónar? At what time do the parties end?
- How far apart are the venues? Walking distance? Cabs? I'd probably stay at Quality Hôtel (3440 avenue du Parc)
- Til what time does the Sunday park thing go on? Am I gonna be able to get a good night's sleep for my Monday morning flight if I decide to stay til the end (considering R. Villalobos is playing)?
- How much money should I budget for meals/transportation/etc.? Is Montreal an expensive city? I'm thinking frugal mode here
Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Reposted from the other thread, since I guess ILM is the proper place for this after all.
Mutek has events every night, on the first three evenings, all day on the weekends, and has interstitial stuff during the day throughout. Parties usually end at different times depending on the day, about 2 or 3, and 6 on Saturday night, as the case in the last 2 years.
I'm not sure about this year, but generally they've been all in the same radius (I stayed at the Universite Quebec a Montreal residence last year) and was minutes to everything) except. . . Piknics on the weekend, which are readily accessible by public transit.
Sunday night thing usually goes to about 11, although they're having anight event as well (Akufen!)
Montreal's not that expensive, you're in range of really inexpensive pizza and stuff, if need be.
Got my ticket in the mail today!

Wh-------!(That is the sound of me cheering without any voice left... I seem to have left it at Metropolis while losing my mind sometime during Tobias and Carl Craig's sets. If you see it lying on the floor, please let me know...)

hey philip, what was that track with antony's voice you played at laika on thursday (i think)?
― Manuel, Tuesday, 2 June 2009 21:15 (sixteen years ago)
xpost, I think I was actually to your immediate right at that very time, but I promise I didn't pick-pocket it.
Oh yeah, Thomas Fehlmann = definitely my favourite set, Along with the likes of Atom TM, Ernesto Ferreyra, Mathew Jonson and Dandy Jack, and many more.
Also, if anyone has any idea what track Appleblim finished his set with I'd be very grateful, as a beautifully perfect track it was.

i played a track with antony's voice?!i mean, if i did, it must have been a HLA remix, but i'd be surprised if i had. might it possibly have been wildbirds & peacedrums? pretty folky/rocky/waily?

pshrbrn, is there going to be a podcast of your panel?

wildbirds & peacedrums are amazing. What song did you play?
― Moka, Wednesday, 3 June 2009 17:15 (sixteen years ago)
i'm guessing "there is no light," but i can't be sure. my track recall is atrocious.i'm assuming the panel was recorded, will have to find out!

hmmm, i'm pretty sure it was an antony vocal, but now that i think about it, it was either your last track -or- the next dj's first one
in any case, i'll check out wildbirds & peacedrums
