Blue Mountain- Best Alt Country Band?

They are nowhere near as famous as Wilco, Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo, Ryan Adams etc. But after playing the newly remastered ane expanded Dog Days I have come to conclusion that they are indeed the best of this genre. You are open to disagree but you won't convince me.

I was going to say I love the song Better Off As We Are, but that's Blue Rodeo. But let it be known, the greatest Alt Country band is the Vulgar Boatmen.

Didn't know this was out, Jim. Wondering if "Soul Sister" is as completely awesome as I remember...

ha, yeah, i'm not sure if i'm thinking of Blue Moutain or Blue Rodeo. I know one of them was one of the first alt-country bands I ever heard -- my older brother had a tape with them (Blue Rodeo or Blue Mountain) and Uncle Tupelo.

Blue Rodeo is from Canada, personally I don't really care for them but then again I have heard a lot of their stuff. Blue Mountain is from Mississippi and is a three piece band that includes the twin sister of John Stirratt from Wilco. Home Grown needs to receive the deluxe treatment also as it also very good.

Oh yeah Pleasant Plains Soul Sister is great as are just about all the runes on Dog Days.

Here is home shot video of the group playing one of their best songs off Home Grown - Myrna Lee.

not to confuse the blues anymore, but "Blue Canoe" off Dog Days is absolutely terrific. I wouldn't say that this band was the best, but they had great moments.
