But in the beginning, it was good to be in a group that stood for and against certain things. We were against synthesizers, the Conservative government, groups with names like "Orchestral Manoeuvers In The Dark," the English monarchy, cock-rock guitar solos, and the American music scene at the time. We stood for the Englishness of the Kinks, T-Rex, and Roxy Music, the arty quirks that kept those groups from being huge in the U.S. We were into the Rolling Stones, the MC5, the Patti Smith Group, Oscar Wilde, Shelagh Delaney, and certain actors.

Oh wow. *wipes brow* I'm glad you cleared that up cause I was having trouble figuring out who on earth would possibly um...position themselves quite that way.

First time I saw this thread title I assumed it was Classix Nouveaux we were talking about (who weren't that great), then I thought it must be Club Nouveau (who were vomit-inducing). So I don't understand the point of this poll. Are we being asked to vote for O.M.D. because the other band doesn't exist, or are we hoping some creative soul will come up with some lengthy and entertaining story about this other pretend band, to make them seem so real and appealing they win the poll?

You some sort of Club Nouveaux hater or something?
