We all can agree that this is the greatest romantic lyric ever written. What we need to determine is, what is the most powerful line? If you haven't heard this, you do not know what you are missing, friend.

Get on my stallion and we'll ride.....

Question: Is the rocket a metaphor for Greg Lake's penis?

The sun may be rising but we haven't finished the beast

-vs.-

Yeah, taste it, taste it, taste it

I like my dessert first --if you know what I mean.

Keith Emerson's keyboard riffs should have an entry of their own. Like the "Oriental" bit he does for Go down gently with your face to the east, or the "Charge" sound for "Get On My Stallion."

The apathy for this thread is going to annoy me all day.

I'm at work right now and it was hard to keep a straight face while reading these lyrics.

I like my desert first - if you know what I mean

What, like, make sandcastles there, and such like? Or crawling and going "Water water"?

I suppose it'd be terrible if the desert was last.

Mark G, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 15:23 (seventeen years ago)

Only love can turn a desert into a beach. (Greg LAKE, geddit?)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 15:30 (seventeen years ago)

Remember, Myonga, I never even listened to Love Beach.

That said, is there any better metaphor for anal sex than "the gates of pain"?

I think not.

Naive Teen Idol, Thursday, 23 April 2009 00:40 (seventeen years ago)

I like "I want to hold you and enfold you beyond reason" - so reason doesn't need a reason?

The sun may be rising but we haven't finished the beast

WTF

All that you should require of music is that it gets you laid. (Eisbaer), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 06:39 (seventeen years ago)

this song could've fit in quite nicely on anal cunt's picnic of love.

one year passes...

I'm at work right now and it was hard to keep a straight face while reading these lyrics.

Bump; this thread is incredible.

btw Naive Teen Idol...in case you ever read this thread, did you ever actually listen to Love Beach??

I found your article years ago...I thought it was great because I was basically in the same boat as you. But I decided to write a review page on ELP and eventually had to hear the album. It's actually not terrible. The title track and "Canary" were actually pretty good, if kind of ELP-lite. In fact you can argue "Love Beach" is a predecessor to "Limelight"!! I'm not saying that it's good, but it's better than most of the later-period ELP albums like Works Vol. 1 or Black Moon. I gave it 2.5/5

Can we re-do this poll?? "Around the maze of pleasure to the gates of pain" is such a great line, I want to try it on my wife. I want to dynamite her mind beyond reason.
