300 worst cases of pop-punk or emo (or any warped tour act) covering an adult contemporary song from the 80's

One of the worst musical trends of this past decade..

I'm not sure whoever covered "The Glory Of Love," but they need to be executed.
And I'm pretty sure at least 3 bands have covered "Time After Time."

But the winner here will start the list at #1..

#1. The Ataris "The Boys Of Summer"

"Glory of Love" is covered by New Found Glory and yes, they need to be executed. There's even a pop punk band in my town that's named Glory of Love, quite possibly based on that cover. Yikes!

Circle Jerks' Association/Carpenters/Capt and Tennille medley is the genesis of all this, right?

i don't mind the 'boys of summer' cover because the original song is great and the cover's pretty faithful. but didn't like less than jake cover the entire grease soundtrack?

I was about to say, if by "winner" you mean best of the bunch, then yes, "The Boys of Summer" wins this thread.

What about the lame (non-emo?) band that just covered the "Footloose" soundtrack?

Actually, the recent root of all this I'd suggest is Limp Bizkit covering "Faith," Orgy covering "Blue Monday," etc. "Hooked On Classics: Nu-Metal Edition."

The Constantines doing "Islands in the Stream" with Feist was unforgivable, esp. as they are an otherwise sterling band.

Well, if this isn't an important project, then I would like to point out that Snuff's cover of "I Will Survive" (a late '70 song) is one of my favorite covers.

Love this. I rented Rad at least once a month when I was a kid. This is the last thing I heard from Thrice that I liked.
