Which festival would you like most?

Mulvaney, Thursday, 7 May 2009 16:31 (sixteen years ago)

I'm probably going to none of them given my cash flow situation but I can still wish that I win tickets.

Mulvaney, Thursday, 7 May 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)

Post other festivals here too

bonnaroo and rothbury have great green/teal/yellow color schemes going on. pitchfork, your website design sucks in comparison.

Mulvaney, Thursday, 7 May 2009 16:43 (sixteen years ago)

get on the ball pitchfork. green is the new purple

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Thursday, 7 May 2009 17:58 (sixteen years ago)

Also at ATP New York:

"Iron & Wine, Deerhunter, Boss Hog, special performances by Boredoms performing BOREDRUM 2009, No Age, Caribou and Deerhoof + More added!"

Of all the summer ones, bonarroo is my easy pick since there's a great selection of R&B, heavy metal and African music

(Pretty similar to Rothbury, looks like)

bonnaroo has the most acts i'd wanna see. rock festival lineups peppered with stand-up comedians are weird to me, though. does that really work, plotting jimmy fallon or some dudes from the daily show in between bands on an outdoor stage? or is there some special comedy tent somewhere?

richard alpert's tijuana brass (some dude), Thursday, 7 May 2009 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

Pitchfork was the only one I was hoping to go to this summer, but since I've apparently missed out on the three-day passes I won't be hitting any up this year.

Xpost, there's a tent

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 7 May 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

I don't do well at outdoor summer festivals. That ATP lineup looks pretty great, but I think I'd be frustrated watching a Feelies set that is contained to just Crazy Rhythms, I've been really into The Good Earth lately.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 7 May 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

Watching Suicide do their first record seems like it could be awesome.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 7 May 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

None of these festivals are shelling out enough to get Faith No More :(

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 7 May 2009 19:10 (sixteen years ago)

you think all the euro festivals are paying that much more?

Here Comes the Hardzinger (gabbneb), Thursday, 7 May 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, dude, Europe has money

they're putting an album out in a few weeks

Chris Rock right before Metallica in Bonnaroo 2008 was funny as hell

Shin Oliva Suzuki, Friday, 8 May 2009 15:35 (sixteen years ago)

I'm psyched about Triumph.

the bonnaroo schedule is fucking stupid because each day has TWO PAGES. How is that at all useful?

gui lovato (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 May 2009 18:19 (sixteen years ago)

the bonnaroo sked makes me sad because i was gonna go until i decided to be all economically prudent. the african lineup that one day would justify the whole thing.

and no offense to ATPNY, but the words "curated by the flaming lips" are enough to keep me out of the entire county.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 9 May 2009 05:24 (sixteen years ago)

ATPNY has its own thread, btw
ATP NY 09: All Tomorrow's Parties New York

i was worried a little at first too. So far their picks have been a little tame but VERY VERY solid. And with the Lips dictum that every band playing on their day has to do something "special," the lineup is pretty fucking ruling so far

gui lovato (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 9 May 2009 06:34 (sixteen years ago)

yeah it's a good group of bands. i'd be down for jesus lizard, the feelies, suicide. (the whole thing of people "performing" their classic albums still seems weird to me, but in those cases i wouldn't complain.) still though... "curated by the flaming lips."

(and flaming lips and animal collective headlining together is like a butterscotch sundae deep fried in butterscotch, served in a vat of butterscotch whipped cream. and i like butterscotch, but ewww.)

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 9 May 2009 06:41 (sixteen years ago)

Lips are only curating Sunday fwiw
