I've been seeing the Killers comparison a lot in reviews, and I suppose I see where they are coming from, they're like the younger, goth-er, sibling (more Ultravox than Duran Duran). Which is just fine in my book. "To Lose My Life" is an enjoyable single. They would make a great teen-romance soundtrack band.

Sub-Interpol. But yeah the record is not that bad.

this has been an addiction and i have fallen in love with this album. they are a modern day goth band on Fiction Records. there is nothing special or unique about them but it's catchy. somehow it is hitting that spot for me right now. it's all by accident as i had to pick a CD to close out my BMG club membership, so it cost me very little money. i would have probably deleted if i just downloaded it but had to play it since i had it.

I like this album a lot. Never really spoke up before, expecting the full force of ILM hatred to rear its head. The Killers comparison is somewhat apt.

Knew Pitchfork was going to hate on this, though the 2.5 seems even lower than I expected. These guys are actually kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. They hit some of the notes that early Interpol used to hit for me (i.e. - watering down Joy Division and cranking up the drama to ridiculous U2 levels).

But now that I've heard it, maybe a 2.5 isn't too far off what it deserves.

Hearing that Alan Moulder was involved was enough to pick this disc up. Digging it, second listen in.
Nice to have an album leap out of the speakers and box my ears for attention. Will check out their earlier cd.
The pomp reminds me of The Mary Onettes, which is another plus.
