I have this subjectively compiled and fairly incomplete list of great (according to me) albums from 2000-2007. I'm working on 2008 and compiling 2009 as well. I'm wondering what, if anything, I should do with it. Make a tumblr and write dumb words? Sample clipz and album art? Infographs? Gigantic torrent?

pointless nostalgia vs compulsion to create meaning out of music addiction

soliciting ideas to make it good, basically

The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:14 (sixteen years ago)

this thread is what started it all

The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

I guess it's sort of uncool to want to see such lists, but I'm kind of interested in seeing the forthcoming "Best Of Decade" lists we'll be deluged with sometime soon.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:17 (sixteen years ago)

I must say my trolling in that thread is superb.

The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:44 (sixteen years ago)

i've been kinda doing this on my blog, re-doing all my year-end lists from this decade, once a a month from 2008 backward (down to 2004 right now), but that's really just some super OCD prep work for the inevitable end-of-decade listmania that'll be hitting in about 6 months. i thought about initiating some kind of big decade poll for ILM but that seems like more work than i'm willing to put in.

yeah people who rate and list albums all the time are so lame, right, whiney

whineford sings the blues (some dude), Thursday, 14 May 2009 18:00 (sixteen years ago)

@kanyewest (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 14 May 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, i've kinda started to mentally file Whiney in the Alex in NYC/Dr. Morbius category of posters who just get so needlessly combative at the drop of a hat that there's no point in trying to get along with them or get a rise out of them, just go with the flow

the idea of starting now (or summer ish) is to create something more worthwhile and meaningful than the deluge of lame EOY lists coming in november

meaningful core

The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 14 May 2009 18:26 (sixteen years ago)

definitely appreciate your ideas and comments. yall are my nerdly musical brethern. especially the haters because if someone else posted this thread i'd be in the chorus of DONT WASTE YOUR LIFE

The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 14 May 2009 18:28 (sixteen years ago)

honestly if you really want to do something with albums that everyone who reads abt music on the internet has heard you best plan on writing lengthy stuff and really getting into how they were important to you and that time in yr life, etc.
