sex and gambling (The Brainwasher), Friday, 15 May 2009 22:06 (sixteen years ago)

Danja POV:

Britney Spears - Get Back
Trey Songz - Wonder Woman
Ciara - Echo
Britney Spears - Kill The Lights
Day26 - In My Bed

Polow POV:

Ciara - Promise
Ciara - Get Up (Remix)
Lloyd - Party All Over Your Body
Ciara - I Don't Remember
Keri Hilson - Turnin Me On

Tricky POV:

The-Dream - Fancy
Mya - Case of the Ex
Rihanna - Umbrella
Electrik Red - We Fuck You
Mary J. Blige - Roses

Danja's POV was definitely the toughest so I'm gonna go with him.

sex and gambling (The Brainwasher), Friday, 15 May 2009 22:11 (sixteen years ago)

i'd love a cd-r or rough guide on each of these dudes

the insane Dr. Morbius and his HOOSical steens (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Friday, 15 May 2009 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

I could make that for you if you want.

sex and gambling (The Brainwasher), Saturday, 16 May 2009 00:46 (sixteen years ago)

[21:53] brainwasher: rev post in my danja/polow/tricky thread plz
[21:53] brainwasher: it's flopping
[21:53] rev : no.

sex and gambling (The Brainwasher), Saturday, 16 May 2009 02:02 (sixteen years ago)

this is tricky easy but mostly cause he hangs out w/teh-dream

ice cr?m, Saturday, 16 May 2009 02:04 (sixteen years ago)

I didn't actually say "no." tbh I just need to think about this more cause it isn't patently obvious in any way

autobahn mi (The Reverend), Saturday, 16 May 2009 02:37 (sixteen years ago)

yes. this requires much thought. that said - tricky did "case of the ex"? whoa. somehow i never realized that.

MTLiens (Alex in Montreal), Saturday, 16 May 2009 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

comparing these dudes' highs is really hard, i think polow and danja have probably sunk lower though.

danja povi

ciara - echo
britney spears - hot as ice
britney spears - break the ice
mariah carey - migrate
kc - say cheese
danity kane - pretty boy

polow povi

ciara - promise
fantasia - when i see u (remix)
young buck - get buck
ciara - bang it up
nicole scherzinger - whatever u like
fergie - glamorous

tricky povi

...actually this is why i'm going to go w/tricky, his work w/the-dream could fill this space alone and THEN you think about 'umbrella', 'case of the ex', 'high price'...

lex pretend, Sunday, 17 May 2009 09:08 (sixteen years ago)

loooove at least 90% of the Danja stuff i hear but this might actually be Tricky who seems to have more range.

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Sunday, 17 May 2009 19:17 (sixteen years ago)

Danja at his best is amazing but I'm not that big on the stuff w/ Timbo, mostly because it usually feels like Tim is doing his oldest schtick over the top of Danja's ideas. Tricky's consistent but I rarely flip for his tracks. Polow probably has the highest number of songs I love but can be really bad when he's low on ideas. Pretty tough to call.

autoerotic goonsphyxiation (some dude), Monday, 18 May 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

From the POV and POVI here, I would go for Danja over Polow (although "I don't remember" is one of my favorite tracks at the moment) but I gladly join BIG HOOS on the request for a "best of" list of the 3...

System, Thursday, 21 May 2009 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

Don't think I ended up voting, but prob would have been another for Tricky.

autogoon crew for coldplay (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 00:02 (sixteen years ago)

jesus these results make me feel like dream stannage is outta control

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:12 (sixteen years ago)

wow i totally missed this - i would've voted polow, most versatile of the three and has the best high points. my prob w/ tricky is that a large portion of my fav dream tracks are produced by los

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:15 (sixteen years ago)

tricky has great outside productions too tho

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:16 (sixteen years ago)

how about t/s: best use of garageband preset in a #1 song

- tricky stewart with the drums in "umbrella"
- polow da don with the synths in "love in this club"

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:20 (sixteen years ago)

tricky by default cause the synths in "love in this club" be mad annoying

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:23 (sixteen years ago)

also i think we should all take "EVERY FREAK SHOULD HAVE A PICTURE OF MY DICK ON THEY WAAALL" into account

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:25 (sixteen years ago)

polow def the most versatile, but has also fallen off the most and i can't imagine him stamping his aesthetic all over a project like danja:blackout and tricky:either dream album. and i can't decide whether that last is a mark for or against him. can't remember who i voted for! maybe polow should just be awarded it on the basis of 'promise'.

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:26 (sixteen years ago)

tricky has great outside productions too tho

"Case Of The Ex" is an all-time fav of mine but c'mon dog he didn't get those votes for non-Dream productions

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:27 (sixteen years ago)

TS ciara high points: promise vs high price vs echo

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:27 (sixteen years ago)

i can't imagine him stamping his aesthetic all over a project like danja:blackout and tricky:either dream album

the rich boy album is really good - also i don't think polow has really fallen off that much - he had incredible peaks a few years ago but all his songs on the keri album for instance are great

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:28 (sixteen years ago)

has anyone else worked with all 3 of them besides cici? there must be someone else

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:29 (sixteen years ago)

secret fav polow production = young buck 'get buck'

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:29 (sixteen years ago)

wayne? xp

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:30 (sixteen years ago)

kelis?

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:30 (sixteen years ago)

danja also has the lowest lows - duran duran, madonna, simple plan (seriously), katherine mcphee

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

when did kelis work with danja and tricky?!

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

i really liked that one kat mcphee song!!! 'open toes', that one

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

all 3 were on Usher's last album

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

McPhee's "Love Story" was dope and i was genuinely shocked that Danja did it

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:35 (sixteen years ago)

also note that most of Danja's lows were co-piloting with Timbo

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:35 (sixteen years ago)

lol, i asked the-dream what he felt his most underappreciated song was and he said usher's 'moving mountains', all i could do was go "..." and not say "underappreciated for a reason"

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:36 (sixteen years ago)

ships, it's not exactly as if "Umbrella" or "Single Ladies" are obscurities

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:37 (sixteen years ago)

when did kelis work with danja and tricky?!

― lex pretend, Thursday, May 21, 2009 10:33 PM (4 minutes ago) Bookmark

i was just throwing names out

also note that most of Danja's lows were co-piloting with Timbo

― Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Thursday, May 21, 2009 10:35 PM (2 minutes ago) Bookmark

yeah this is like the opposite of being the sully sullenberger's co-pilot

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:38 (sixteen years ago)

i don't think wayne's worked with ANY of them

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:40 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i'm not sure why i said that tbh - altho he's on "turnin me on" and the "so good" remix but i guess that's not really "working with" either necessarily

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:42 (sixteen years ago)

he's definitely appeared on songs produced by all three

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:44 (sixteen years ago)

"We Takin' Over" for a Danja example

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:44 (sixteen years ago)

there ya go

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:45 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i meant his own official songs otherwise we're just opening the floodgates. i'm sure he's freestyled over all their beats too

lex pretend, Friday, 22 May 2009 03:45 (sixteen years ago)

ships, it's not exactly as if "Umbrella" or "Single Ladies" are obscurities

ok apparently you were talking about just songs by The-Dream as a performer, i was talking about songs he's written

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:51 (sixteen years ago)

right

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

hate when polls that actually require some thought close in under a week, i never even voted

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

tbh I'm not really sure ILM Dream stannery is that connected to Terius Nash, jobbing songwriter (contrast this with Ne-Yo, whose personas as a songwriter and artist seem more interconnected)

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

and if nothing else, Tricky often (but certainly not always) steps way outside his Dream-album pallette when doing work for other artists. those that don't (I dunno, Foxx album, let's say) tend to especially seem more like The-Dream castaways in light of that

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:59 (sixteen years ago)

more

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:00 (sixteen years ago)

yeah but...you're saying there are people who know Tricky produced "Single Ladies" or "Umbrella" and voted for him because of that, but don't know his stuff w/ The-Dream or that The-Dream wrote those songs too? i don't buy that, maybe for a vote or two.

xpost

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:00 (sixteen years ago)

I'm saying both factors probably contribute to a typical Tricky vote.

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:03 (sixteen years ago)

In any event, there's no point in punishing him for being so connected to a particular songwriter/artist.

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:05 (sixteen years ago)

nah not punishing...i just think on a level playing field him getting 4 times as many votes as either other guy is kinda crazy, and that's the only reason i can think of why.

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:10 (sixteen years ago)

Danja hasn't done anything I've absolutely *loved* since the JT album and Polow is mad inconsistant.

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:18 (sixteen years ago)

ayyy where is Jim Jonsin at in this poll?

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:20 (sixteen years ago)

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:23 (sixteen years ago)

AllHipHop.com: Now, you call yourself the “King of All White Girls.” Elaborate on that for me.

Polow Da Don: Just the “King of the White Girls.” I ain’t self proclaimed but I run with it. [Laughs] There was a stage in my life where I went crazy with dating white women. I have nothing against black women, but they’re raised differently. White women are raised to respect and serve their men. Black women are taught to question [their men]. Black women look at submission as being weak. White women look at submission as being a woman. And anyone who has a problem with this statement is ignorant. Just look at the divine order: it goes God, man, woman, child.

Po_Ow de Don

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:29 (sixteen years ago)

that was pretty early in the days of realizing Polow shouldn't do interviews (or at least nobody should read his interviews) -- more recent example being the whole fake Chris/Rihanna duet clusterfuck

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:33 (sixteen years ago)

fwiw, Jonsin has produced ten top 20 hits including two #1s, which seems to be just barely short of the others

chillin with my ella (The Reverend), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:35 (sixteen years ago)

ten!? jeez. guy is so anonymous i always forget half the songs he's done.

Italics in Baltimore (some dude), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:37 (sixteen years ago)

he's out of his league tho - waaaaayyyyy more gimmicky

oj da hoosman (J0rdan S.), Friday, 22 May 2009 04:38 (sixteen years ago)

never saw this!? i definitely would have voted tricky though, mostly cuz of his dream shit. there's not really a loser among these three though
