MONstermASH, Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:21 (sixteen years ago)

LOL. You mean the Aphex Twin post you put up immediately after you started this thread? But I agree - this will DEFINITELY ruin Mediafire. RIP.

Kevin John Bozelka, Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:35 (sixteen years ago)

yeah using mediafire to host music is pretty groundbreaking

I don't care if you're white black a bitch or a fucking bum off of the streets. If you rap about shooting people, smoking blunts, wearing timbs, drinking hennessy, and whatever else, I'll buy your music. If you rap about your girl, but don't call her a bitch, fuck you. If you rap about the economy and how its hurts migrant workers, fuck you. If you rap about your rap telekenisis or some equally retarded nerd shit, fuck you. That basically how I break it down to an extent.

Classic spam. I hope our notoriously insular board don't go on an SB frenzy here.

Skip "Ex" Spence (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 16 May 2009 19:42 (sixteen years ago)

What about this?

Skip "Ex" Spence (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 17 May 2009 08:20 (sixteen years ago)

I couple of days ago I tried listening to some of the punk albums I really used to like a few years back. To name a few: X-Ray Spex - Germfree Adolescents, some Ramones albums, the first Adverts album, The Clash's first album [UK Version], some Sham 69 records, Stiff Little Fingers, etc.

While listening to them I realized something: Punk Got Boring.

The only albums I did like were London Calling and Wire's Pink Flag. I guess I got tired of listening to people ranting and screaming about Anarchy. It's boring already. Maybe it's just me getting bored because I've heard it a million times, like any other music, but I'm not bored of any other type of music. I've been listening to Bossa Nova a lot for the past 2 years and I haven't been bored of that yet. I've been listening to Electronica stuff like Daft Punk, Chemical Bros, etc. for over 10 years and I haven't gotten tired of it yet.

I guess I'm bored of it because it doesn't change. Punk is a very lazy genre. Just 3 to 5 chords, anarchist message and very fast. It's weird how I'm so entertained by Post-Punk (Joy Division, PIL, Magazine) and so tired of Punk.

Well...That's it.
