Coldplay x Animal Collective: it's showdown time!

Animal Collective = one album I really like, maybe a song or two on others.
Coldplay = like with varying degrees every album except the first, but do like "Yellow."

Coldplay wins.

Animal Collective by a mile, even if I sometimes don't like their stuff. They try different things. They don't always give you what you expect in a song. They blend up interesting genres.

Coldplay can write nice songs, but after awhile, it's all the same.

(And, in case it isn't obvious from my post, I like a lot of Coldplay songs. They're just past their sell-by date for me, in terms of their sound).

that's what's so irritating about them. they're like the friend who never has any ideas about where to go or what to do. "whatever's cool with me, guys."

This strikes me as kind of odd, considering the latest album is IMO the first time they've done something more interesting and engaging, and less plodding and middle aged!

I dunno if I can vote in this poll though, cause I only half-like either band at all.

I could hear a Animal Collective 'Clocks'. It would sound more like 'In The Flowers'.

AC made 2 of my favourite albums of the decade (Feels/SJ) and a bunch of other good stuff (Brother Sport/My Girls/Who Could Win A Rabbit/Person Pitch). Coldplay made a couple good songs. Easy, really.

Hi All,

I've decided to start a little trend for profile pictures on DiS (and Twitter, Facebook, etc) and the idea is simple: take a picture with your favourite album covering part of your face.

The idea being that people will get a taste of your music taste, we'll remind people how great the physical record looks and probably find the indiest person in the world with some obscure record that no-one else in the world owns.

This is part sleeveface, part recordstore day, part that black image everyone had on twitter to bring down Oz government or whatever it was.
