this one would otherwise be a totally foregone conclusion, so I have excluded "Bull Session with Big Daddy" on the grounds that it is not actually a SONG (even though it is an actual track on the album)

toughest one yet! might be ronda, cuz i think i like the single version better ...

― tylerw, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:32 (seventeen years ago)

please let me wonder is so good

― LaPorta Authority (brownie), Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:34 (seventeen years ago)

whole second side is prob. my fave Beach Boys stuff ever.

― tylerw, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:36 (seventeen years ago)

In the Back of My Mind gets my vote for being just a bit too over-the-top maudlin in the vocal delivery, and the sorta jazzy chord progression doesn't work all that well

― Wrinkles, I'll See You On the Other Side (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:41 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, that is a weird one, but I like it because it's Dennis trying to sing in that maudlin, ballad-y way, but not really knowing how to do it. something kind of moving about it, even though it's super awkward.

― tylerw, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:44 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, this version of rhonda is the weakest link, but there are no obv. groaners

― velko, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:44 (seventeen years ago)

this rhonda is the one with the fake fades at the end, right? haha, that is so irritating.

― tylerw, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:46 (seventeen years ago)

Brian having a little too much fun with the master volume knob on that one

― Wrinkles, I'll See You On the Other Side (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:48 (seventeen years ago)

Classic album with no stinkers. Least interesting is Dance, Dance, Dance.

Agreed -- DDD it is.

― Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:54 (seventeen years ago)

How great is "Do You Wanna Dance?" btw?

― Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:54 (seventeen years ago)

Nothin' but smashes, but I'm going to go for "In The Back of My Mind"

― caek, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 16:58 (seventeen years ago)

dance dance dance is a little uninspired lyrically, but musically it's nuts -- i think there's an instrumental version on the box set? sorta crazy rhythmic things going on there.

― tylerw, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 17:00 (seventeen years ago)

"Do You Wanna Dance". But hard to find weak tracks on this album at all.

― Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 27 May 2009 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

^^^you crazy

― Wrinkles, I'll See You On the Other Side (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 27 May 2009 17:23 (seventeen years ago)

― Wrinkles, I'll See You On the Other Side (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 27 May 2009 17:23 (seventeen years ago)

This is such a good album. I've gone for Good To My Baby though.

"Hi Twig!"

― dog latin, Thursday, 28 May 2009 10:58 (seventeen years ago)

I love In The Back Of My Mind so much. It swirls around a mood and then just glides away *pooof*.

Good To My Baby and Don't Hurt My Little Sister I can leave behind.

― Alba, Tuesday, 2 June 2009 20:10 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

― System, Tuesday, 2 June 2009 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

I'll go with Help Me, Ronda as I too prefer the single version. I love all these songs though and choosing Good To My Baby is just insane...

What are you lot, nuts?

― Mark G, Wednesday, 3 June 2009 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

yeah I don't get the hate either. the Ronda version is messed up enough that I would've expected that to win but whatevs

― Kool G Lapp (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 3 June 2009 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

Craziness. I didn't vote in this one 'cos I couldn't think of a bad song on this album.
