.. or, who did you?

I mean, for all the Portis/Radio(head) love, which we'll take as granted, there's been these artist pleasing suave sets for everyone from Oasis, Madness, Depeche Mode, to Bob Dylan...

So, who would you get and cherish of this ilk? The majority of people settle for the nice 1CD, or a d/l....

(Here's an example: TellTaleSigns, 1CD £3 in Fopp, 2CD £18 (most places), 4LP edition £50 or thereabouts, or the 3CD with 2 books is anything between £120 new, £90 in HMV, or £39 online)

Blimey, that 'possible existing threads' page tells me I've started a heckovalot of threads that start "OK, "

For all that 'people buy loads of CD's', it seems that buying the "deluxe LP package" is the new "join the fan club"...

See, each lp set is 12" by 12" by 3 inches wide. At least! (Lots are: add 2" to the 12" around)

So, yr average bookshelf cannae take more than 10.

with the Madness deluxe thats exactly what happened.

in the box you get a red plastic card with unique code on it, and you become a member of the 'M', for which you get access to all manner of online extras, special concert tickets etc etc.

Now here's a damn thing...

Tubular Bells. (I know, I know..)

It's a (£70?) box. It has a remastered album, a DVD edition, and three CDs, one of which features the famous 'demo' version, where he recorded so much the tape started to wear out and they had to start again.

Now, I'm interested, but not £70 interested, specially when the rest is just overissue of the same stuff.

There is a couple of smaller formats, one a 2CD +DVD with various mixes, single tracks and rarities, and a 2CD with a 'various other tracks from other lps' ..

No other with the 'demo' versions...

No one, since CDs are better and easier to use than LPs, and my product fetishism is satisfied by owning the CD. I might throw in a few extra Euros, though, if the CD would come with a poster-size version of the cover art. That's the only thing better with LPs these days.
