For example:

Public Enemy --> Rage Against the Machine

Easy enough, right? Your turn!

Is Rage Against the Machine an "epic failure"? If they had only released their first album, it would probably be considered an unqualified classic. And I'm not even a big fan.

Jesus Christ, Attorney at Law (res), Friday, 5 June 2009 22:32 (sixteen years ago)

I thought this was going to be more like, I dunno, British rock band gets inspired by Delacroix painting and ends up releasing yet another album of lazy bilge.

tylerw, Friday, 5 June 2009 22:39 (sixteen years ago)

ya rage against the machine = hugely successful band that most people at least grudgingly kind of liked... is that really an "epic failure'!?

s1ocki, Friday, 5 June 2009 22:41 (sixteen years ago)

So I guess something like Beatles --> Oasis? Although "Definitely Maybe" is a pretty good album, IMO.

Jesus Christ, Attorney at Law (res), Friday, 5 June 2009 22:41 (sixteen years ago)

yeah the key problem here is adequately defining "epic failure"

Kitchen Paper Towel (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 5 June 2009 22:43 (sixteen years ago)

you could probably go Sgt. Pepper ---> Sgt Pepper the Movie

tylerw, Friday, 5 June 2009 22:43 (sixteen years ago)

though someone will probably mount an elaborate defense of Sgt Pepper the Movie here

tylerw, Friday, 5 June 2009 22:44 (sixteen years ago)

I have been meaning to re-watch it cuz I can't really believe its as bad as everyone says

Kitchen Paper Towel (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 5 June 2009 22:50 (sixteen years ago)

鬼の手 (Edward III), Friday, 5 June 2009 22:58 (sixteen years ago)

Oasis and RATM are most definitely epic failures compared to their idols

Duke, Friday, 5 June 2009 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

oasis are better than the beatles

thomp, Friday, 5 June 2009 23:04 (sixteen years ago)

they're not really, i just thought it might be less boring to say that

thomp, Friday, 5 June 2009 23:04 (sixteen years ago)

turned out not to be though

thomp, Friday, 5 June 2009 23:04 (sixteen years ago)

Define "epic failure" by your own tastes. No need to overanalyze!
