Kool G Rap 4,5,6

Cant believe how great this still sounds today ... one of my fav rap records really, shows how timeless the G Rap flow always was. Beats are some classic claustrophobic ny project stairwell smog shit from dr. butcher, t-ray, naughty shorts & buckwild. really just inspired to start this thread reading the dj premier - classic feat. rakim, kanye etc thread & thinking about how rakim & G Rap really might have been slept on at the time but kept up w/ the styles w/out sacrificing anything that made them great

Destroy:

Ive never felt 90s Big Daddy Kane I gotta say -- shit just sounded dated. he couldnt sound ruff & rugged if he tried

(jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Saturday, 6 June 2009 02:14 (sixteen years ago)

but that might fall into this theory of mine The 80s revival was really from 77-86 and the 90s revival will be from 87 on

yah exactly, no one would consider those dudes '80s rappers' really

autogucci cru (deej), Saturday, 6 June 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

a lot of artist straddled the two decades, im just talking about dudes who 'peaked' in the 80s but then dropped some actual heat the next decade
