Over dinner my roommate just told me that the band BATTLES recently went to Japan and sold $2,000,000 worth of merch.

Is this possible?

If not, why is he trying to make me so mad?

seems like itd be pretty easy for warp records to make 25 thousand tshirts and ship them to japan

Yeah I haven't been feeling this band since Tyondai left/got kicked out. Heard the new album on NPR and I find it strangely lifeless.

I thought Gloss Drop was better overall than the first. Heard some of the new album, adore the opener, I think it's brilliant.

the yabba is pretty sweet. i'm relieved that there are no guest vocalists on the new one

or any vocals at all.

i thought the vocals on gloss drop were really out of place. too dry, too high in the mix. love tyondai on mirrored, though. i got the new one yesterday and it's good...still feels like the loss of tyondai kinda crippled them though

this is kind of battles by numbers, but that somewhat diminishes how impressive those numbers can be

liked the first one. couldn't get behind gloss drop, but then maybe i didn't give it a good enough go. felt a bit all over the place.
