I suppose the only one of these that would need a Youtube link to it is the Holton/Steel one.

From non-Norwegians, Gary Holton is probably more famous for his acting ("Auf Wiedersehen Pet") than for his musical career, while Casino Steel is more famous for his past in UK bands like The Boys. But they released some pretty good rock/country/pop oriented albums that did well in the Norwegian market, and this verson of the Kenny Rogers song was their biggest hit:

Otherwise, I consider this a great year, perhaps the best of all the Norwegian chart topper years. Would have loved to vote for Bolland or F.R. David, but it has to be Human League.

Can't fuck with "Ruby" so I'm voting for it without watching the video.

Eye Of The Spider for me, but wtf is Dance Little Bird – Electronicas? The birdie dance?

Enemy Insects (NickB), Friday, 12 June 2009 12:00 (sixteen years ago)

That is the original bird dance, yes. I was about to say that 1982 was a great year for Norwegian chart toppers in spite of that one. :)

That "Ruby" is awesome. My favorite version is still Roger Miller's, but now I have to hunt down some of that odd Casino Steel stuff. I love the Boys, and have always wanted to hear the Hollywood Brats.

Casino Steel also plays on Ian Hunter's Dirty Laundry along with Honest John Plain and Glen Matlock.
