danja produced singles poll

didn't include his co-productions or things that he ghosted for timbaland because i don't want to get into that game. anyway, this a pretty diverse group that should produce an interesting winner. whether you want to vote on which is the best beat or which is the best song is up to you. if there's a single missing blame it on wikipedia.

another reason why i didn't include the timbo co-productions is cuz i don't think we need another argument about furtado/timberlake era timbaland singles

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 June 2009 22:33 (sixteen years ago)

ha the best beats are the first and last, 'we taking over' and 'work'. 'we taking over' is just such an unstoppable force and 'work' is some sick dance shit - the cut-ups, the way it switches to doubletime, the way he fucks with it at the end. pity they botched the album version, fucking missy! 'break the ice' is honourable third i think, it's so clean and pristine - it's weird how the beat drops out way before the song ends, the ending of the song actually feels like the build back to the beat in a dance track, except instead of the beat coming back in the song ends. wish there was an extended version.

best song is 'official girl' because cassie fan club.

lex pretend, Sunday, 14 June 2009 22:37 (sixteen years ago)

danja's best britney/danity beats weren't the singles imo

lex pretend, Sunday, 14 June 2009 22:38 (sixteen years ago)

"We Taking Over" is pretty amazing, especially for the way almost everyone's verse has its own variation on the beat, and one of the biggest hooks (the bells) doesn't even come in until Ross's verse. I might vote for "What It Is," though, just cause it's so underrated.

fwiw "Sober" is a co-production -- w/ the bassist from No Doubt!

this makes sense - heard it on the radio last night and spent the whole time thinking about how weird it was that danja had produced it

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 June 2009 22:44 (sixteen years ago)

it's hard to beat Break The Ice.

surm, Sunday, 14 June 2009 23:53 (sixteen years ago)

'hurt'

autogucci cru (deej), Sunday, 14 June 2009 23:54 (sixteen years ago)

"hurt" is mad underrated in the t.i. discog - probs his last great single (maybe eve?)

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 June 2009 23:56 (sixteen years ago)

maybe ever?*

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 June 2009 23:57 (sixteen years ago)

i voted for we takin over - kind of untoppable in my respects imo

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 14 June 2009 23:58 (sixteen years ago)

I feel like I should say Break the Ice because that was pretty earth shattering for me at the time but (cfc) Official Girl is the tidiest pop song of all time maybe. Did not realise that Knock You Down was Danja, for all my stanning for that song it really does sound like it was just whatever engineer was working that day.

voted for My Mans cause someone has to and I can't front

"Official Girl"

boys (Tape Store), Monday, 15 June 2009 00:39 (sixteen years ago)

lol -- thing is "Wonder Woman" really is one of the best here

Won't High (some dude), Monday, 15 June 2009 00:44 (sixteen years ago)

an unintended consequence of this thread is making the blackout/cassie crew pick between children

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Monday, 15 June 2009 00:53 (sixteen years ago)

stop

surm, Monday, 15 June 2009 00:54 (sixteen years ago)

surm, Monday, 15 June 2009 00:54 (sixteen years ago)

we takin' over!

Bitchtime Producto (M@tt He1ges0n), Monday, 15 June 2009 00:54 (sixteen years ago)

I had no idea he did that rather decent (besides the lyrics) Kat McPhee single. I mean, Richcraft ripoff all the way, but still really fun.

Any way, "Official Girl".

maciej recognizing trill, Monday, 15 June 2009 01:38 (sixteen years ago)

Work

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Monday, 15 June 2009 10:03 (sixteen years ago)

I'd go with "Break the ice" too. Still an amazing track and otm about its weird structure.
many great tracks here though. Somehow, although I really like it, it doesn't feel like "Official girl" is a Danja production for me. And "Knock you down" is neither a great song nor a great production but I kinda like it at the moment. very summery and sweet.

I love the production on Gimme More.

Turangalila, Sunday, 21 June 2009 01:02 (fifteen years ago)

agree with lex - voting for "work", but "official girl" is the best song

what a disaster for 1p3 (k3vin k.), Sunday, 21 June 2009 01:17 (fifteen years ago)

official girl is great in its unsullied-by-wayne rap free incarnation, but that's not the single which is a technical disqualifier for me.

❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉Plaxico❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉ (I know, right?), Sunday, 21 June 2009 01:20 (fifteen years ago)

Break the Ice then

❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉Plaxico❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉ (I know, right?), Sunday, 21 June 2009 01:20 (fifteen years ago)

gimme MOre" production IS pretty awesome too

surm, Sunday, 21 June 2009 01:21 (fifteen years ago)

no contest between it and break the ice tho

no

s4rgent boy tell em (The Reverend), Sunday, 21 June 2009 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

no matter what is one of his best beats - a total dirge of a song tho

im glad that "we takin over" won - the rightful winner imo

swag serf (J0rdan S.), Monday, 22 June 2009 00:28 (fifteen years ago)

ughh "official girl" is a terrible beat

some dude, Monday, 22 June 2009 03:13 (fifteen years ago)

there's no use in convincing cassie hate club capn but it fits the song very well. it aint much on its own though, yeah. didnt vote for it in any case

matos w. k. iw (k3vin k.), Monday, 22 June 2009 03:17 (fifteen years ago)

Official Girl is awesome but only when Wayne does not wreck it, most inappropriate guest spot ever btw

❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉Plaxico❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉ (I know, right?), Monday, 22 June 2009 09:23 (fifteen years ago)

wayne has wrecked many a song with a syrup-brained guest verse - yall can take a number

whiney g. gordon liddy (J0rdan S.), Monday, 22 June 2009 09:28 (fifteen years ago)

yeah but for some reason he's allowed to blather over a good proportion of this and then outofautotune all over the outro

❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉Plaxico❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉ (I know, right?), Monday, 22 June 2009 09:33 (fifteen years ago)

I've listened to "gimme more" again this week end and it's still so great.
it appears quite simple and not a great songwriting but somehow I never get tired of it and like it more each time.
it's less amazing than "break the ice" but I end up liking it more.
her greatest single (from her greatest album) by far for me.

maybe i'm just gay (Tape Store), Friday, 14 January 2011 10:03 (fourteen years ago)

dunno about anyone else but, aside from 'hello good morning', i feel his work on the diddy album is so mindblowingly awesome i kinda go right past admiration into just being cross that his talent isn't indisputably ruling the world. that straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200 shit.

i want him to be timbaland but i'm worried he's gonna be forever lazy and unfulfilled like darkchild basically.

r|t|c, Friday, 14 January 2011 13:55 (fourteen years ago)

i suppose you can't exempt him from diddy somehow bringing the unusual best out of most of the producers on that album, though.

r|t|c, Friday, 14 January 2011 13:57 (fourteen years ago)

yeah he did "hate you now" and "yeah yeah you would", right? both of those are incredible productions

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Friday, 14 January 2011 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

man I love the production on hello good morning - when the beat switches up for diddy's verse is a total eargasm for me

btw what are some other good examples of that b-boy bouillabaisse* vibrating bass rumble

*my earliest known ref point for this sound
