I'll go for the predictable choice: Loop finding jazz records.

There are some decent tracks on Textstar but it works less successfully as an album.

('cos it's a compilation, right)

sam500, Thursday, 18 June 2009 07:09 (sixteen years ago)

14 tracks did a nice roundup of the Jel-meister here

sam500, Thursday, 18 June 2009 07:31 (sixteen years ago)

i think La Nouvelle Pauvreté might be my favorite. Really nice loose feel. Modest running time, too

Ah shit, is he the one behind the Ursula Bogner CD or not?!?

guammls (QE II), Thursday, 18 June 2009 07:36 (sixteen years ago)

Those Farben records are the shit! So much fun to mix with.

death from abroad (lukas), Thursday, 18 June 2009 07:37 (sixteen years ago)

what about the Ursula Bogner record?

jed_, Thursday, 18 June 2009 14:27 (sixteen years ago)

between Nouvelle Pauvreté and Kosmischer Pitch for me. I played the hell out of teh former but more likely to reach for the latter now. I haven't heard Tierbeobachtungen though

baaderonixx, Thursday, 18 June 2009 15:20 (sixteen years ago)

tierbeobachtungen & 'textstar' are the only ones i've heard. they're both outstanding. will prob not vote immediately however b/c i'd like to hear the others

Textstar sounds great on a proper stereo but somehow I always found it pretty boring - maybe I'm not hearing this stuff in the right context though

baaderonixx, Thursday, 18 June 2009 15:27 (sixteen years ago)

very tough to pick between Kosmischer Pitch and Tierbeobachtungen. so great. anyone into the Groupshow cd? kinda meh on first listen...

nerve_pylon, Thursday, 18 June 2009 16:05 (sixteen years ago)

is Tierbeobachtungen in the same vein as Kosmischer Pitch?

baaderonixx, Thursday, 18 June 2009 16:06 (sixteen years ago)

I like so many of these but Texstar easily gets my vote. (got all excited recently to see an ILM Texstar thread, before looking again and seeing it was Telstar instead...

Paul in Santa Cruz, Thursday, 18 June 2009 18:20 (sixteen years ago)

xp Tierbeobachtungen is more droney/swampy/cough-syrupy than Kosmischer Pitch but generally in the same vein

guammls (QE II), Thursday, 18 June 2009 18:42 (sixteen years ago)

^yes--re: Tierbeo: more hypnotic/hallucinogenic.

nerve_pylon, Thursday, 18 June 2009 19:26 (sixteen years ago)

Kosmischer Pitch is my fave out of the 5 I have.

abanana, Thursday, 18 June 2009 20:10 (sixteen years ago)

Just for the record, not only was that thread I mentioned about Telstar rather than Textstar, but it was also on another discussion board rather than ILM.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

No more polls involving artists most people have never heard/cared about.

Mark, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 00:11 (sixteen years ago)

If most people don't care about Jan Jelinek that's their own damn fault.

EDB, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 00:21 (sixteen years ago)

True. But it still makes for a boring poll.
