Voted "Ripples" although the title track (the best ever short Genesis song), "Mad Man Moon" and "Entangled" all come very close. A brilliant album indeed.

JOEKS

I'm going to have to go with "Robbery, Assault and Battery" here. It's like some unholy cross between Camel and Black Leotard Front.

Elaborate joeks?

Smoking a Progfag (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 20 June 2009 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

"Dance on a Volcano" or "Squonk" or the title track I think. I don't know why I've decided "Ripples" is too obvious but it is.

You inspired me, Noodle. :)

I just skipped back thru it in a minute and now I can't make up my mind at all and "Mad Man Moon" is in contention.

Okay Geir. You are purposely trying to doing this poll JUST TO DRIVE ME CRAZY. JUST LIKE YOU DID WITH THE SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND POLL. You are doing it just to purposely get under my skin like a...

Look, I'm on a fucking rented computer right now. I don't think iTunes offers this album. I don't want to download sls*K on this computer. And you're torturing me because I don't have this album and I don't know how to get it. Yep. That's why you suck. I didn't even see this on vinyl at the goddamn store. Okay?

*stop yer bitchin' bimble*

Nope, found Trick of The Tail on iTunes. Still would rather have the LP.

Now what was that other one...Wind & Wuthering, I need that too. Woohoo! I have them both. Oh watch my money go! There's supposed to videos on this stuff, too. Too bad my damn neighbor just started up his lawnmower, how awful!!! Too much noise. Gotta go back to that song that mentioned lawnmower...was it "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)"?

my favorite Genesis album! Finally, a Genesis poll for me! And it is ALL about "Entangled" one of the most beautiful creations of the 70's.

scott seward, Saturday, 20 June 2009 18:20 (sixteen years ago)

i was lucky enough to find an original 70's Japanese pressing of this album, so i could get rid of my stinky american vinyl. sounds like a dream!

scott seward, Saturday, 20 June 2009 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

Well I'm excited to hear this album, then, Scott, if it's your favourite!

BECAUSE I MUST OWN EVERYTHING OF GENESIS UP THROUGH 1983 THIS IS MY MISSION IN LIFE

Subway to Idaho (Bimble), Saturday, 20 June 2009 18:44 (sixteen years ago)

Was a tough choice for me between Ripples and Mad Man Moon, but I went for the former because it's so beautiful. And I'm not sure I would agree it's their most underrated album, certainly not by fans. I was a member of the Genesis fan club in the '70s and when they ran a poll this came out favourite album.

Robbery is probably my favorite Genesis track from any era. The rest of this album is merely "ok" tho.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 21 June 2009 07:30 (fifteen years ago)

I listened to about half of this record on the bus today before I had to get some other things done, and there wasn't a doubt in my mind that it was very good. It's really hard trying to get my mind to process so many Genesis albums at the same time, though. I'm taking it slow.

It's about the same thing I did when I decided to get a lot of Genesis back in 1994 or so. It worked though, although it would take a bit more for me to really appreciate "Nursery Cryme", which also sounded crap as far as audio quality went in the only version available back then.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 22 June 2009 06:43 (fifteen years ago)

My first copy of Trick of the Tail was a used (and pretty beat-up) cassette, Italian '70s issue, I got from a pawn shop for pennies. It sounded so terrible, but I got so accustomed to that sound that when I got the remastered cd it sounded like they were playing live right in front of me.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 22 June 2009 06:51 (fifteen years ago)

I can imagine a cassette sounding like shit. But otherwise, "A Trick Of The Tail" was by far the best-sounding Genesis album yet at the time. Great production work by David Henschel.
