it's weird, because "electronic jam band" is like a description of the genre of my dreams!

During the past 2 or 3 years STS9's compositions have moved farther and farther from the drum and bass aesthetic to embrace elements of genres as diverse as electro, perry ferrel hip hop, Rock, and IDM.

http://sts9.com/the song 'Atlas' (I'm streaming some of their new album from their website) sounds kind of like they are reviving some of the funk that characterized their first album or perhaps they are entering stronger jam territory reminiscent of Russian Circles.

Watched a show of STS9 from 2017 at Red Rocks in a random find, never knew they existed till I hit play. I kinda dug it, don't know if I would search it out but the sound and video quality was great. There was something kinda Average White Band soft fusion about some of their grooves except with modern takes on bloopy synth sounds. In a way the music has that futureretro soundtrack feeling to it like some of that vaporwave music has, except with a live band.

I played hackey sack with them once. They were still pretty new and were performing outside a couple music stores at an outlet mall. It was a very small crowd.
Their first album wasn’t as heavy on the synths as what their signature sound would shortly become. It was more of a repitious guitar groove thing.
