Think Tank vs Terror Twilight

In some ways Pavement and Blur were their country's equivalent and equals, Blur harbouring an explicit fondness for their US cousins, while Malkmus and co generally unfussed about the whole thing.

Terror Twilight and Think Tank were the last albums by both bands, both not bad at all, but criticised for not being as strong as previous efforts.

Don't know why I'm doing this poll, but hey why not.

Only one of these albums has "Major Leagues" on it, so that one.

The album's original title was Farewell Horizontal until Bob Nastanovich complained. He later explained that "there was no way I was going to be on the Farewell Horizontal tour for the next year."

This is wrong, because Terror Twilight actually *is* bad.

i bought slanted & enchanted when it came out and i liked that and then i managed to ignore pavement entirely until my brother told me how good terror twilight was, so i bought it and loved it and immediately went out and bought all their other albums on vinyl. that's how much i liked it!

terror twilight, but think tank is the only blur album that I really like. I never got the h8. (but this probably stems from not really liking the blur-sound.)

iatee, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 00:58 (fifteen years ago)

the only blur song i love is girls & boys. and i really love it. that was their high point for me.

scott seward, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 01:07 (fifteen years ago)

i never bothered with think tank; it took me like ten listens to get down with 13 so a new Blur album just seemed like too much work. i'm a total pavement bro but i was so bored by terror twilight and so annoyed by its lyrics that i still haven't heard solo malkmus after all these years. but it has "spit on a stranger" and "major leagues", which are both huge songs. and i grew up near stockton so yeah.
