I don't think we're being properly worshipful yet so...

This one is so beyond the pale that Wiki lists it under "Other albums (remix, hybrid, etc.)."

It's "Morphine" for me. But "Earth Song (Hani's Club Experience)" is one of the loveliest remixes I've ever heard/spun.

"Morphine" is top ten Jackson.

My name is Kenny! (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 26 June 2009 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

i actually hear DJs on rap/R&B stations slip the title track into the mix now and again, and it's pretty good, so that one.

some dude, Friday, 26 June 2009 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

Morphine is so fucking raw.

CD spinnin', AC hummin', feelin' pretty (kenan), Friday, 26 June 2009 14:03 (fifteen years ago)

discovering "morphine" is really the only valuable thing i've gotten out of the orgy of jackson coverage. tight track, haunting bridge.

Is this any good? (serious question)

DJ Mr. Face Stabba, M.D. (Whitey on the Moon), Friday, 3 July 2009 01:13 (fifteen years ago)

I don't really know that much on this album, but "Blood On The Dancefloor" is great.

Is this any good? (serious question)

yes it is. but very messy and not all that pop-friendly either.

one year passes...

Only got into this album post-death. Apart from the incredibly awful Fugees remix of '2 Bad' ('omg look at me i has done a michael jackson song i met him he is FAMOUS!!!!!1 omg' wank wank wank) it's bloody fantastic. Some of the songs are significantly better than the originals, which is not a stretch, let's be honest.

I didn't think much of this when it came out, but critic Bill Wyman got me to revisit it for the title track and it was indeed great - I wish it had been polished up for Dangerous instead of one of the bathetic numbers.

birdistheword, Friday, 30 December 2022 17:30 (two years ago)

"Money" and "Morphine" still sound awesome and scary.

Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 30 December 2022 17:33 (two years ago)

Morphine is - with the original version of HIStory - the least commercial thing he ever did. I'd say it wouldn't have worked as a single, but anything he released at this point would still have been a fanbase hit in the UK and assumedly much of Europe.

I'd love to know more about the actual genesis of the record. I think the most I've ever read was he heard a lot of dance music on the radio in Germany. How did it get from that to Heller & Farley, David Morales, Todd Terry and Tony Moran appearing on a Michael Jackson album...

Superfly Sister getting 0 is weird. that was my clear favorite the one or two times I actually listened to this

frogbs, Friday, 30 December 2022 23:18 (two years ago)

HIStory deserved attention too. The best of the remixes.

This is MJ's Yellow Submarine isn't it?
