Billie Jean (2002) - Bushwacka Rmx - great party record, just the intro beat cut up, building and building with some vocal snippets thrown in every once in a while
Human Nature (Makoto and Specialist Remix) - nice smooth hospital-style jungle remix, mj's vox sound very pretty here

also i have one that sounds pretty current titled "Thriller (Electro Remix).mp3" - wish i knew who did it

messiahwannabe, Friday, 26 June 2009 16:13 (fifteen years ago)

dunno. but ive got a lot of really good (if bad fidelity) outtakes.

"dunno. but ive got a lot of really good (if bad fidelity) outtakes."

not to get off subject already, but have you heard that mark ronson/rhymefest "man in the mirror" mixtape featuring loads and loads of mj samples and skits using outtakes from his studio chatter, interviews, childrens stories, etc?

also, I Want You Back (Z-Trip Remix)

messiahwannabe, Friday, 26 June 2009 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

Not a remix per se, but Go Home Productions' "Jacko Under Pressure" is completely sublime. Especially if you can find the original version with the news report samples, but it works well without them too.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 June 2009 16:52 (fifteen years ago)

the minilogue remix of 'billie jean' is pretty great

lex pretend, Friday, 26 June 2009 16:54 (fifteen years ago)

Also in the non a remix per se category, I've always adored Bitter Sound Foundation's "Why Does Michael Hurt?" (mashup of "Smooth Criminal" + Carly Simon/Chic's "Why"). But it's hitting me especially hard this morning.

Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 26 June 2009 16:57 (fifteen years ago)

I like the shelter camp remix of "Blood on the Dance Floor" that's used in the video.

holy ghost one is really good

gabb 'bag (s1ocki), Friday, 26 June 2009 17:25 (fifteen years ago)

second haitch and max's picks.
not quite a remix, but i still enjoy that collab with Luomo and Raz Ohara that bites "Smooth Criminal" and "Beat It."
and re-watching "Thriller" last night, i suddenly wished for an edit of that wicked, zombie-moving breakdown before the chorus comes back in.

beta blog, Friday, 26 June 2009 17:28 (fifteen years ago)

i love that luomo/raz ohara thing

yeah i just watched this on my lunch break and all i could think about was how sick that instrumental is

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Friday, 26 June 2009 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

Not a remix per se

The A-side of Luomo and Raz O'Hara's Running Away 12" borrows the bassline from "Smooth Criminal," and the B-side borrows the bassline from "Beat It" (excerpts here).

That Frankie Knuckles club remix of "You Are Not Alone" kills it for me EVERY DAMN TIME

rentboy, Friday, 26 June 2009 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

Frankie Knuckles' mix of "Rock With You" is an amazing slab of piano house exquisiteness also

also if we're talking bootlegs, my favorite will always be the "Can You Feel It" vs. "Lick Shots" blend from a few years back
