This was my last year of hs, first year of college, so I was def hearin pop music.

the chorus to the divine song is vaguely familiar, but i'm surprised it was a #1. it's not a bad melody and arrangement, but the singing is really not very good.

First year where I haven't liked any of these. Was hoping that Divine would be THE Divine with a track I hadn't heard before, but nope.

"Doo Wop," but I can't find much love for most of these. This was one of those years when (a) more interesting stuff appeared in the Top 20, and (b) The non-charting airplay Number Ones were so superior (Imbruglia's "Torn").

"The First Night" is soooo underrated (as evidenced by the fact that I'm the first person to even mention it), voting for that.

"Together Again", but this is a really horrible list. Almost all of the entries are absolutely awful.

Pres Keyes - Cher would hit #1 with that in '99; Aaliyah and Imbruglia were victims of chart policy that omitted songs for which a commercial single was not made available; the rest charted lower.

I can't believe "One Week" was a #1. This song is a droopy ballsack.

I like "Doo Wop (That Thing)" even though it's corny and dated in the same way that The Love Below is corny and dated.. My enjoyment of "Too Close" may be mostly due to nostalgic factors, although that sample (is it Kurtis Blow?) is pretty rad.. So overall I had to go with "All My Life," which is the only song on that list I enjoyed just as much in 1998 as I do now.
